Every summer as August rolls around, I find myself in a state of panic and confusion. Am I excited to go back to school? Am I nervous? How is this semester going to be? I’ve found that moving back to school is always bittersweet for me. On one hand, I can’t wait to see my friends again, but on the other, I don’t have my mom to do my laundry for me anymore. So, in honor of going back to school in two weeks I’ve compiled a list of pros and cons of heading back to college.
Cons
- Moving in (please kill me).
- Adulting.
- Being responsible for yourself again.
- Classes.
- Professors you hate.
- Leaving your pet at home (I will come back for you).
- 8 a.m. classes.
- 9 a.m. classes.
- 10 a.m. classes.
- 11 a.m. classes.
- Any class that starts before 3 p.m.
- Looking presentable for class.
- Midterms.
- Finals.
- No home cooked meals.
- Alcohol weight, beer belly, snack pouch, muffin top, etc. (College is rough man).
- No Mom and Dad to take care of your every need (i.e. take you to the dentist, take your car in for inspection, do your laundry, make you food).
Pros
- Friends! (#blessed)
- Socializing with people your age.
- Midnight drenches with the squad.
- No parents to answer to when you come home at 3 a.m. on a Tuesday.
- All the gossip you missed out on during the summer.
- Being back with your sorority gal pals (or frat BFFLs).
- Campus food (but only if you go to Virginia Tech).
- Best friend cuddles.
- Going out multiple times a week (could also be seen as a con).
- All the attractive specimen that walk around campus.
- Professors you love.
- Knowing you go to the best school ever.
I'm not sure if the pros outweigh the cons, but they sure do count for something. Happy schooling!
