You may not know this but Georgia is one of the rainiest states in the U.S. According to some sources it is ranked number seven or eight overall, and number five for the most summer rain. (Our rain is so memorable Trisha Yearwood wrote a song about it!) When most people think rain in the United States they think Seattle, but in fact Washington comes out number 29 on the list of rainy-ness. And while some rain is just too much, (like that time it rained so much it flooded half of our town and I had to take a boat to get out of my driveway.) The rain does make our grass green and our hot humid air seem a little more bearable. So I thought I’d compile a list of the loveliest pictures from our beautiful green and very wet state, Georgia.

Everyone who lives in Georgia knows you can smell the rain from miles away, and we are all familiar with the sticky feeling on your skin as the humidity seeps in after the rain is gone. Sometimes we pretend it's a nuisance, when it rains on all our favorite holidays and when the clouds block us from getting tan in the summer. But deep down I think we all know that even if it annoys us, that Georgia rain makes us feel at home.
Bonus: here's a picture of that time it rained so much we had to take a boat to get out of our driveway.
