As Your Auntie, I Promise You These 14 Things

In This Article:

Being an auntie is hands-down one of the best responsibilities I have been honored with. From love to giggles to kisses to toys, I cannot think of any other title I would rather hold. Being in someone's life with a role like this is something that should not and cannot be taken for granted. When I became an Auntie, I made an unspoken vow to my nephews. Here are 15 things I promised my new favorite people when I gained the title of "Auntie."

1. I promise to protect you

You will always be my number one priority and I promise to do everything and anything in my power to protect you from whatever life throws at you.

2. I promise to support you

As my tiny friend, it is in my job description to love and support you in whatever decisions or life choices you make.

3. I promise to listen to you

I will always be free to lend an ear to whatever you have to tell me; from school, to crushes, to amazing future life plans.

4. I promise to spoil you

As your auntie, it is my duty to spoil you and give you whatever you want (and Mom and Dad don't have to know).

5. I promise to help you

Whatever you need help with, I will promise to give you my best - even if it's math.

6. I promise to cheer you on

Count me in as your absolute number one cheerleader for everything from recitals to soccer game.

7. I promise to make sure you get everything you deserve

You deserve the world and I will do everything in my power to make sure you get just that and nothing less.

8. I promise to be your friend

Since I'm a young auntie, that also qualifies me to be a friend - count me as a two-in-one.

9. I promise to keep you accountable

Even when you may not want me to be there for you, I still will be.

10. I promise to not tell your parents when I get you toys/candy

This is another thing that can stay our little secret...

11. I promise to make you laugh

Even when life is at its lowest, I promise to always be there to make you laugh and bring a smile to your face.

12. I promise to always have your back

No matter what crazy decisions you decide to take in life, you can count on me to back you up with love and support.

13. I promise to make sure you succeed

Even if things don't go your way or the way you had hoped they would go, I will be there for you with a supportive alternative option.

14. I promise to love you unconditionally

Ever since you came into my life, you had me wrapped around your teeny tiny finger. From here on out, you have support, laughter, help, and most importantly, love, for the rest of your life.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
