Progressive Mythology

Progressivism is a great lie and a dangerous cult that should be feared and despised.

Progressive Mythology
John Milton Cooper, Encyclopedia Britannica

Twenty-First Century Liberals pride themselves in being Progressives. Liberal seems to have turned into a dirty word or an insult for them. They claim to believe in progress, so the reason for their preferred title, Progressive. Liberal or progressive, whatever label you use, a flattering, ill-grounded mythology is at the heart of this ideology.

Science and progress is the Progressive faith. They speak of progress of humanity and civilization as if we evolve as a human race. They believe the government is and should be based on scientific knowledge. Their system of government is a bureaucratic government and the administrative state, distant from the people and independent of politics.

Progressive faith in direct democracy makes the ideology something of a hilarious paradox. They advocate universal suffrage, no matter how uninformed or uneducated a voter is, and the direct popular election of all elected officials, including the President. They introduced ballot initiatives, referenda, and direct popular vote on State Constitutional Amendments by the people, among other things, to give more of a legislative role to the people. These forms of direct democracy, no matter how well-intentioned they were, greatly threatens our national survival.

Progressives believe our problems and the issues of the day require a larger central government. They tell us only the Federal Government could eradicate poverty, alleviate suffering, raise our quality of life, end the long history of racism in the United States, and improve society and our living conditions. They tell us to surrender our rights, liberty, and our very being to them and give power to them without limit, and they will perform miracles. This leads to another Progressive belief the experts know best, have the expertise, and should have full power to create a great society.

The Progressives hope to translate their vision on to the global stage. They were instrumental in the creation of the United Nations for this purpose. Read the UN Declaration of Human Rights, and you will see Progressive ideals, written in the document. They push for the creation of a world government with full possible power to remake, rebuild, and transform the world into a global utopia. Progressives are both Marxists and globalists.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
