It's a rocky time.

No matter how much we may say it'll be different this year, we all know we're going to inevitably procrastinate with studying for midterms. It's too early in the year to care that much, right?

1. When it feels like you've been at school for a week but suddenly you're getting warnings about midterms...

It LITERALLY feels like we just got here. There's no way we can be halfway through the semester yet.

2. When you convince yourself that procrastinating on studying is still a good idea...

I've procrastinated on everything else so far this year, it'll work out just as well with studying right? Right??

3. When midterms become all that anyone talks about...

There's a point in the semester where you can't leave your dorm without hearing someone mention midterms.

4. When you start to realize that midterms in college are NOTHING like midterms in high school...

It's a whole new world.

5. When someone asks you if you've started studying yet...

*Insert nervous laughter*

6. When you ACTUALLY start studying...

You can be in the library for HOURS and still get nothing done. Trust me, it's possible, I speak from experience.

7. When you're driven to invent new ways to procrastinate...

New Netflix show? Check. Every dating app ever? Also check. When you procrastinate so often, you have to invent new methods every once in a while to keep it interesting.

8. When you realize you can count the number of hours until a test on one hand and you've barely studied...

It's especially annoying when your library closes at 2 AM and you're forced to move. Thanks, Seton Hall.

9. When it's the final hour and you're desperately trying to remember the entirety of the course content...

Trying to recall an entire half a semester's worth of work like...

10. When you haven't slept in 3 days...

Sleep is for the weak?

11. Or had time to go to the dining hall...

In favor of making ramen in your room for the fourth time.

12. Or had time to shower...

Seriously try to avoid this one. When it happens, you know you've hit rock bottom.

13. But you still have to study more...

There's this dark time, probably Tuesday or Wednesday night, when you realize you haven't seen the light of day in something like 24 hours. Things look pretty bleak, and you're not sure if you're gonna make it through.

14. When you start to think you've ruined your GPA and college career...

It's hard to not be hard on yourself when you're sleep deprived, hungry, and still don't know what you're doing academically.

15. And then when midterms are finally over, and you can finally relax...

16. ...until finals.

But don't worry too much about that for right now — you've stilll got time to continue procrastinating for a while until then. Never change, procrastinators of the world. At least not today. Maybe you can push it off until tomorrow.

In case you're unaware, "resting bitch face" is the term used to describe when a person's natural, expressionless face makes it look like they are mad at the world. Whether they are walking down the street or simply spacing out thinking about what to eat for dinner, it's very easy for others to assume that this person is either upset or mad at them. Because of this, those of us with Resting Bitch Face (RBF), and especially us women, have all experienced many of the same situations and conversations, including:

We've all had a crush before. Whether it leads to something or nothing, the process has all been the same. The awkward feelings, the stalking, and the stress of trying to keep this huge secret. The feeling of becoming a total spazz is something that cannot be avoided, and the most spazzy family that can relate to this feeling is the Belcher's.

At the tender age of 18, we are bestowed with the title of “adult.” For 17 years, we live under the rules and guidelines of our parents, school, and government, and to stray from any of those rules or guidelines marks us as a rebel. At 18, though, we must choose which college we want to go to or what career we want. We are allowed and encouraged to vote. We can buy lottery tickets and cigarettes. We can drop out of school, leave our household, and do other "adult" things. At 18, we start down a path of thinking for ourselves, when for the entirety of our lives other institutions have been mandated to think and do for us.

10 Thoughts Of A 5th Year Senior

What about those of us who don't do it all in four years?

"College will be the best four years of your life" is a phrase that we have all heard growing up. College is painted as a magical place to us while we are in high school. A place you go to learn, meet your best friends and probably have the time of your life while all of this is going down. Four whirlwind years, where everything that you've known changes and you start to learn what it means to live on your own, have a job, etc. But what about those of us who don't do this all in four years? Major changes, hard courses, switching schools, career paths changing, these are just a handful of factors that could extend your four years to five, six or seven. There is nothing wrong with taking extra time to graduate, but returning as a fifth-year is a little different. Most of your best friends have most likely graduated and moved and while you may be one of the oldest undergraduates on campus, you might feel as awkward as a freshmen. A world that became home and comfortable to you is still there but it's slightly different than you've known it to be and you have to find a groove to fall into. These are thoughts you'll have as you look ahead to returning to your college campus, with a victory lap planned.
