Procrastination is something a lot of us never learn from. If you’re one of those people and always do last minute Christmas shopping or maybe this year was just a busy year for you and haven’t even started, there is always a way. Just follow these 5 last minute Christmas shopping tips.

Step 1: Think simple

Don’t overthink gifts because that’s what takes up a lot of time. However, don’t think too simple. Gift cards are not really an idealistic way of telling someone “Merry Christmas”. Putting thought into the gift is more meaningful.

Step 2: Make a list and check it twice

Make a list of all the people you need to get a gift for so you don’t accidentally forget somebody. Then make a list of all the things each person might like that way you have a variety of options and don’t get something they probably won’t use. This will save time from spending too much time on thinking what each person might want.

Step 3: Avoid crowds

At this time of the year it is almost impossible to avoid crowds. However, you can do your best by going during regular work hours on Monday to Friday before 5 p.m. Of course there will still be a lot of people but its guaranteed less people will be a lot less considering most holiday shoppers will be at their jobs. Avoiding week nights and weekends can definitely save a lot of time. Another way to avoid crowds is to shop online. A lot of retailers have holiday sales, especially online sales. Online shopping saves so much time because you won’t even have to go anywhere. Just be sure it is going to arrive in time for Christmas and have a back-up plan in case there is a delay.

Step 4: Create your own gifts

You can create your own gifts by making your own holiday cards, baking, knitting blankets or clothes, or anything else creative you can think of that they will love. Personal gifts are more thoughtful and carry more sentimental value.

Step 5: If all else fails, get a gift card

Even though gift cards aren’t the best, it might be the best choice if you don’t want to go completely empty handed. Choose a store that you know the gift recipient will love to shop or eat at. If you already have a gift card from a past birthday or other holiday, that’s even better because you can either buy them something with that gift card or re-gift it to them. But like I said, this is only a very last minute option. Another way to really save some time is by checking your local grocery market first instead of having to drive out to the mall if it's out of the way. Sometimes they gave a rack of gift cards ranging from online stores, retail stores, restaurants, and even theme parks. Pair up the gift card with a meaningful Christmas card and you will be all set.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
