As my family and friends have noticed, I love reading. There's a whole different universe trapped in each book and there are characters that stick with us forever. However, sometimes I drift into daydreaming about what would these people (as in these characters) would do if they lived in this universe and reality. So, what would someone like Princess Alatiel do in this day and age?

(If you happen to not know who is she, here's a link to the Decameron's story of her. I know it's a lengthy short story, but it's really good.)

First of all, to navigate the world of today, I picture her as having plenty of social networking apps. There would be FaceTime for calling back home, Facebook to keep in touch with her friends, Air B&B for whenever she's in a different city and, to navigate the dating world, Tinder. Taking into consideration the theme of our dearest Alatiel's story, the dating element is important.

She's just moved into a new in the city with two of her friends. She wants to discover the city with someone who's been there living for a while, so she takes on Tinder to find a guy to show her around and have a good meal with. She finds this guy named Peter and they go out together. They were having a nice time together, and whilst they're in a bar, she's also introduced to Matt, Peter's friend and bartender. Peter seemed like a good guy at first, but the date goes wrong after he made out of place comments about Alatiel, such as her overall style and what she does as a job. After a disappointing day, she goes back to her flat and, as she was getting ready to go to sleep, her phone rings. Matt, the friendly bartender, just texted her.

As they keep texting she discovers he's a massive Torchwood fan and they spend all night talking about it. Alatiel feels hopeful again, and decides to go on a date with him. However, as her schedule seems to never merge with his, both of them progressively lose interest in going out together.

Despite everything, Alatiel decides to try Tinder one last time and finds Edmund. He seems different from those men she's been out with and talked to before. As they kept talking, she discovered he's into stuff she doesn't want to take part in. It's too overwhelming a proposal and, ultimately, she decides to not keep in touch at all.

Alatiel, completely bored with these past experiences, deletes the app and, instead, installs the Netflix app on her phone. Pyjamas, hot tea, Netflix and friends is all she feels she wants now. After all, friends, Netflix and ice cream are the three things every girl needs with her at all times.

Ultimately, the one thing I was left wondering after this is: why would Alatiel want to come around in the XXI century? Alatiel has a once in a lifetime experience sailing the Mediterranean sea in the Middle Ages and, by now (during finals) I think we all want to sail away with her. Bye!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
