Writers block is a very serious issue when you need to write an article every week, especially when you're swamped with homework, projects, and finals to work on. I quite often find myself procrastinating on something that I know I have every single week. After all, writing for The Odyssey is the only constant thing in my life. However, here are some things I do when I have no idea what to write about:
1. Go to Dunkin' twice in one day.
Because maybe that donut and iced coffee will help me brainstorm topics. Or maybe it'll just taste good and waste more time that I could be using to attempt an article.
2. Complete that huge extra credit project.
I should have a topic to write about by the time that's finished, right?
3. Turn on Pandora and skip 30 songs on twelve playlists.
Writing is impossible without the perfect song to jam out to.
4. Wait until the day it's due and text seven people for topic ideas.
Two hours before it's due and still have no clue what you're writing about? Yeah, that's me.
5. Go to CVS and look at all of their makeup.
I might need a new lipstick, you never know until you look.
6. Have a dance party.
Dancing fuels creativity, right? It might help generate article topics. And if not, then at least it was fun while it lasted.
7. Clean the whole dorm.
Sunday is the perfect day to clean the room and get everything ready for the week.
8. Delete all of the emails in my inbox.
I guess she didn't need her emails, so I don't need mine anymore, right?
9. Switch to Spotify because you ran out of skips on Pandora.
I can't write if I don't have a good playlist going in the background.
10. Finish a Netflix series.
There are only ten episodes left, I should be able to get my article in on time.
11. Decorate my dorm for Christmas.
Yes, it's the beginning of November, but now I won't have to decorate in December.
