5 Tips To Take Into Consideration When You Start The Process Of Selecting The Right College

The college selection process can be very difficult especially if you don't know where to start. As someone who visited about 12 schools before finally finding the right place, I understand the struggles that you may be going through.

To help those out there that may be struggling I've compiled a list of things that I've found to be the most important when going to select your future home.

1. Choose a place you feel at home

When selecting the school you will call home for the next four years, it's important that you're going to a place where you feel at home and believe you will fit in.

Don't think about the distance from home because, if it's the right school for you, you will start to feel that school is your new home.

2. Don't follow your friends

Leaving your high school friends can be difficult but, don't choose to attend a school just because your friends are going there.

College is about making new friends and memories while you will miss your high school friends there are many ways to stay in touch.

3. Don't go to a school just because it's the cheapest

While money can be tough, especially when paying for school you don't want to eliminate your top school just because of the price tag.

There are thousands of scholarships out there to make your top school more affordable.

4. College rankings are not important

There are many different articles and websites ranking colleges, saying which is the best to attend.

However, this list isn't important. Every school is different, and there is one school that is the best for you so, don't worry about what the internet says.

5. Visit the campus

It's so important to visit the campus of the school you want to attend. Visit multiple to make your decision easier. As soon as you step onto the campus you will know if it's where you want to go or not.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
