For years now, Roger Goodell has been making every attempt possible to transform the Pro Bowl into a watchable game that players actually care about. However, because of the risk of injury and low money incentive, in the eyes of NFL players, the superstars of the NFL do not play hard and are just there for the free stay in Honolulu. In major league basebal there is incentive. The All-Star game is halfway through the season and the conference winner gets to host four games in the World Series, while the conference loser only gets to host three games. There is no proper incentive for the Pro Bowl, so I have a few ideas that could make the game more interesting.
Â
Eliminating players
Â
Every time a player commits a penalty, that player should have to come out for one play with out being replaced. For example, if offensive lineman Joe Thomas had a false start penalty, he would come out for one play and the offensive line would only have four players. This would cause an increased pass rush for one play and add to the excitement of the game. If cornerback Brandon Flowers received a hands to face penalty, he would have to come out of the game and a deep pass would be more likely on the next play.
Â
No field goals or extra points
Â
The most boring aspect of the game needs to be eliminated. Increase the scoring in order to increase the enjoyment.
Â
Every player must play every position for one snap
Â
This is more of a fantasy than an actual possibility. It would be absolutely awesome if every player had to play every position. Imagine Nick Foles at running back and Eric Weddle is a defensive tackle. It would be so interesting to watch this game and it would draw a much larger audience.
Â
The Pro Bowl is bogus, right now, and some swift changes need to be made to make it a watchable event with a large viewership for a money grubbing Roger Goodell.
