One of Disney’s greatest princess created was Princess Mia. Growing up watching the two Princess Diaries movies gave me more confidence to by myself. I wouldn’t make so many awkward faces if I had never seen Mia do them first. She was one of my greatest role models as I grew up, and still is. Throughout the series she transforms into a knowledgeable and sort of graceful Queen, without losing who she really is. No matter what she ends up fighting for what she believes is right. She teaches us many things that sometimes we fail to think about. Mia inspires all of us to stick to our quirky awkward roots, but to also embrace the future exceed expectations. Looking back, this series shows so many true parts of life, and also teaches many great lessons for everyone. Here are just a few of the reasons why this series is so incredible.

  1. She keeps her expectations real
  2. Don't just think about yourself
  3. Goals in life set straight
  4. Anybody can be a princess
  5. We are all queens, we just don't know it yet.
  6. How to respond to an awkward compliment
  7. My limited dancing abilities
  8. Being a jerk gets you nowhere
  9. The struggles of pantyhose
  10. Sometimes you have to bend the rules to live fully
  11. We are powerful
  12. Believing in yourself
  13. Our reactions whenever we see a couple making out in public
  14. Our friends words of encouragement in times of doubt
  15. How fast moods can change
  16. Losing it
  17. Crying is okay
  18. Her positive, yet relatable outlook on life
  19. Courageous, not cautious
  20. Reality of being invisible
  21. Coordination in gym class
  22. Exhaustion after a long day, week, month, year, life
  23. Every time Grandma sees my bad posture
  24. Not to forget the moment when somebody tells us something that we just can't wrap our heads around
  25. But turn out being pretty great at it

Thank you Amelia Mignonette Thermopolis Renaldi, for showing me that I can be a princess too.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
