No this isn't a pretentious article about 'the classics' this is an article about how good "Pride and Prejudice" THE MOVIE is. So many of my friends say "I have never seen that movie before, but it sounds boring." But in reality, it isn't. Elizabeth Bennet is just an independent woman who doesn't need a man until Mr. Darcy (who is lowkey a jerk) comes into the picture. The one thing that does drive me crazy is her family, Elizabeth and her father are the only sane people in the house. But anyway, back to why it's a great movie and you can't tell me otherwise.
First off, the soundtrack is well laid out for the story. I get emotional just listening to it. Here I sit in the library holding back tears because "Darcy's Letter" has me thinking about that cute boy I saw in the dining hall. Studying? Partying? Excersing? This soundtrack is the BOP for you.
Second off, the cinemaphotography is breathtaking to the point where you notice "wow that's an amazingly good camera shot." I have friends who can barely focus on a thirty-minute television show, who can point out the gorgeous location and camera shots of this movie. This movie isn't just about acting it has all things in it to make it the full package.
Third off, once you see this movie, for the first time, you won't want to quit watching it. I can honestly stand by the fact that I have watched it at least once or twice a month. It is appropriate for any time of the year. Winter? Great! Fall? Perfect! Spring? Even better. Summer? The best. There is no limit to watching this movie. Yes, it is 2 hours and 15 minutes, but it has more authenticity than any other era movie before. It's a very quiet movie that requires 100% attention, but in the end, it's worth it.
Keira Knightley's performance is strong and charming. You see her go from this independent and stubborn woman to a woman in love. I am a sucker for romance movies (ask anybody), and it's movies like this that make me so excited to watch them. Kiera deserved that Oscar nomination.
Oh, Mr. Darcy, the most stubborn man to ever star in a movie. A handsome and upper-class man that is so annoyed with Elizabeth Bennet that he falls in love. He is a very reserved man that leaves you yelling at the television screen because he can be so oblivious! A character I hate loving, but in the end, he proves that he can be the perfect man.
Now that you've heard me rant and rave about "Pride and Prejudice" please do yourself a favor and see it. You won't be disappointed, but if you are you probably don't have a heart. BYE.
