We all learned a simple scientific fact growing up: The earth is a sphere.
Unfortunately rapper B.o.B missed class the day he should have learned this, thus spurring his Twitter rampage about why the earth must be flat.
Things only went downhill from here. Er, should I say progressed onward in a straight flat line?
His comments naturally gained some attention as his stupidity took the internet by storm. One person, in particular, took it upon himself to correct B.o.B's tweets, hoping to keep B.o.B's ludicrous theory from spreading, Neil deGrasse Tyson. Tyson is an astrophysicist, cosmologist, author and science communicator. He has degrees from Harvard University (B.A.), University of Texas at Austin (M.A.) and Columbia University (M.Phil., Ph.D).
B.o.B did not like Tyson's tone and continued to spit out senseless facts. In fact, he made a song about it. Unfortunately, the song contains more insults toward Tyson than actual scientific facts.Don't get me wrong, B.o.B has got some really catchy lyrics...but he doesn't exactly strike me as a scientist.
"Joint, joint, I roll up a joint
Keep my shooters in the game like I hate to disappoint
I see only good things on the horizon
That's probably why the horizon is always rising
Indoctrinated in a cult called science
And graduated to a club full of liars"
Having the sense of humor he does, Tyson decided to use the rap game as a stage to help people understand how science actually works. He then appeared on The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore to once again assure the human population that the earth is in fact a sphere. And just to clear up one more thing B.o.B, airplanes in the night sky are just airplanes in the night sky, not actual shooting stars.
