Politics have the power to transform even the most beautiful of souls into ugly monsters. The hostility that comes with fighting for power is so disgusting, it's almost unfathomable the lengths one must go through to sit on the proverbial Iron Throne. No, not all politicians are monstrous, but the current state of politics is. The rage that comes from debating politics is not to be taken lightly, which is why I try my hardest to avoid it whenever I can. Why be miserable when laughter is quite literally one of the easiest things to do?
Whenever I need a pick-me-up Twitter is the place to go. Serving as a constant stream of jokes, puns, and humorous anecdotes, a quick chuckle is always guaranteed whenever I log on. But sometimes Twitter can become just as disgustingly political as the rest of the world. One of the most famous examples of using Twitter as a pedestal would be our own President Trump. His tweets over the years have been mostly unremarkable or flat-out agonizing, but it's the rare few that stand out as something truly special. The following is a list of President Trump's funniest and most entertaining tweets over the years.
I promise--my political opinions did not interfere while writing this.
1. Pee-Gate
Earlier this past January, our president underwent one of the funniest controversies out of the White House since Taft got stuck in his bathtub. In a completely unnecessary yet spectacularly fascinating controversy, President Trump was accused of hiring Russian prostitutes to perform "golden showers" while he watched. While the original source continues to be disputed by people with nothing better to do, many say the controversy started when a 4chan user claimed to have "leaked" the info--pun absolutely intended--in an effort to further the stereotype of online trolling.
Hilariously enough, Buzzfeed then published an article on this story, spiraling this funny troll into world-wide scandal. With many Democrats in vocal outrage over how disgusting President Trump was/is, many Republicans countered their screaming with their own deafening outcry of "well, Obama wasn't perfect, either!" With the situation crumbling into hysterical chaos, it was President Trump's tweet posted above that had my roommates and I howling with laughter.
Instead of ignoring the stupidity of everybody involved with this stupid, stupid "scandal," President Trump vehemently defended himself with a similar gusto found in a four year old attempting to get out of a time-out. The hashtag #peegate became trending as us non-pretentious people sat back and saw just how easy it is to laugh at the world rather than jumping to conclusions and taking things seriously. If laughter really is the best medicine, #peegate surely gave me many more wonderful years to experience funnier, smarter people taking advantage of the emotionally fragile.
2. The Diet Coke Roast
Unlike the last one, there isn't much of a story here. This "draft-at-best" tweet from President Trump is about as witty as what your fourth grade bully might have said. What makes this so funny, however, it just how gratuitous it seems. I cannot tell if this is a genuine target at fat people or a simple roast. Regardless, for all of the wrong reasons, this is a tweet that never fails to make me smile. Especially when President Trump would later be seen with a Diet Coke.
1,237 is actually the amount of days he has left before the calorie intake kills him.
3. Team Edward
Who knew our future president was so invested in Robert Pattinson's love life? When Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson with her "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders, emotions were high and people were hurt. It seems as if nobody had a tougher break, however, than our own president. In a bromance I can only assume is one-sided, Donald Trump was quick to defend Robert Pattinson by telling him to move on...in a series of tweets that increasingly grow in obsession.
To which Mr. Trump tweeted not even a month later his final words on the relationship.
If somebody could start getting on the President Trump/Robert Pattinson fanfiction we deserve, please hit me up. I'd love to read some.
4. Trump vs. Snoop
I was sitting in a Chili's with a friend of mine the other day when we happened to notice that Snoop Dogg was on CNN. While we still are unsure whether or not it was the two-for-one Long Island Iced Teas or the fact that Snoop was on one number three on my list of the top ten places I'd never expect Snoop Dogg to be at, we laughed. Hard. Little did we know, Snoop's appearance on CNN was in response to his controversial new music video depicting Snoop assassinating a man in clown makeup, made to obviously represent Donald Trump.
You can watch the hilarious yet very NSFW music video down below.
The video presents clear social commentary through police brutality and mundane home life, while also referencing the world of entertainment--Neegan's baseball bat and Harley Quinn make appearances. The obvious take away from this video, however, is the political aspect with a mock President Trump dressed in clown regalia being "assassinated."
Now, instead of simply ignoring Snoop's legal right to free speech, President Trump took to Twitter and announced to the world how unfair his depiction was while also calling Snoop out on a "failing career." Had Mr. President just said his depiction was unfair, I would have simply rolled my eyes and moved on, but because of the attempt to attack Snoop personally, this anger turned to pettiness, which in turn became hilarious.
As I said in my introduction, this piece is in no way political. None of what was previously written was in any way enhanced or molded by my opinions on President Trump as a politician. I absolutely loathe discussing politics, even when I find myself passionate about the subject I am speaking about. There have been some great things he's done, just as there have been some appalling things he has done.
A review of the man is not warranted and if that was what you were looking for, I'm sorry to disappoint. This article was all in good fun as I love to laugh and be laughed at. Now if only somebody could teach laughter to our president so he can stop being so stuck up all of the time, that'd be great.
Actually, don't do that. I'm having too much fun retweeting him.
