In lieu of the Christmas season, I feel that so often we take for granted the present. What we have right now is a gift. It’s something that we should hold on to. Future plans can tend to cloud us in the present and distract and worry us. We must not dwell on things to come because, after all, our plans are so futile in the end. Now is all we have and we can only prepare for the future by focusing on the now.
For some, the present is wonderful and peaceful and for others the present is daunting and dreary. We must keep this in mind: we cannot judge people on the surface because we are so often unaware of what’s underneath. In order for one to overcome these hurdles of the present, he or she must embrace the present.
It is one of the only things guaranteed to us. We cannot hold the future or predict our fates. If we could, then present-day life would be chaos. Changing what we need to order to see the ideal future would be energy draining and we would never be satisfied.
Chaos is not what we want life to be. Life would become scary and we’d have a fear rooted inside of us because of it. Fear in the present is merely a curse and not a gift. Fear is no gift. Some gifts are not returnable and we cannot give today back to oblivion. It has already begun and has yet to end.
The future is so unclear and that is how it should be. It does not need to be planned to the minute. The future has no itinerary and futures know no protocol for how to best cater to our lives. It is not to be changed because we are unable to know the future. Everything in life has a purpose and there is no way to find out your fate until you’re in that moment. And in that moment, everything about you goes with it.
The present is a reality. We cannot do but so much with reality and it changes. Daily lives are often shrouded with future worries. Let the future come to you in time. Don’t change anything about the future unless you can change something about your present. Live life while you’re young and enjoy the life we call now.
