A Preppy Girl's Guide To Summer

If you're anything like me, your wardrobe is something like Kate Spade meets Blair Waldorf. Your professional, polished look is refreshing in the mass of students walking to class in sweatpants. But, summer is a time to pack away the pencil skirts and cardigans. But, don't limit your summer style to just jean shorts and crop tops. Here are some preppy summer essentials to ensure a stylish summer.

1. Jack Rogers.

Upgrade your basic Old Navy flip flops to something more polished. Jack Rogers are the Holy Grail of preppy summer footwear. They come in a variety of styles so you will always find the perfect pair.

2. Lilly Pulitzer tumbler.

If you plan on spending your summer at the beach, keep your drinks cool and your style cooler with these fashionable tumblers. Lilly Pulitzer's fun prints scream summer and fun. It's a great accessory anywhere you go.

3. A sun hat.

Don't settle for a typical baseball hat. Keep the sun off your face with a fun sun hat. It's a great fashion statement and is absolutely adorable.

4. Scalloped shorts.

Retire your old jean shorts with this mature alternative. They come in an array of patterns and colors, but always look sophisticated.

5. Sundresses.

The epitome of spring/summer. Stock up on these dresses to be the most stylish at any event this summer. The fun and flowing material is sure to make a statement.

6. Structured tank tops.

If you have a summer job or internship, these are the perfect business casual pieces. They're professional and sophisticated, yet are casual enough for an after-work coffee date. They're always in style and perfect for any outfit.

7. College T-shirt.

Represent your home away from home on casual outings. College tees are cute, comfy, and great conversation starters.

8. A motivational book.

A great beach read or a way to get inspired during a lunch break. Just because you're not in class, doesn't mean you can't get inspired! Reading a good book is a great way to keep the mind occupied and outline professional goals.

9. A Beach tote bag.

Always be ready for an impromptu beach trip with a cute beach tote. Keep your swimsuit, sunscreen, and towel packed away ready to go!

10. Designer sunglasses.

Keep the sun out of your eyes in style. They're sure to make a statement and last for summers to come.
