Preparing Ourselves For Thanksgiving Break!

Thanksgiving break is coming for us college students, and it's time to go all out.

Preparing Ourselves For Thanksgiving Break!
Big Bang Theory

Thanksgiving is around the corner, and colleges have either started or about to start their first break of the year! Whether you commute or dorm; plan to stay in the dorms, or visit family over the break, all of us college students know that it is time to kick back and enjoy our beloved freedom from school. And procrastinate on homework.

I decided to take a break myself from serious topics (at least this week) and make a list for things we are grateful for the break and enjoy our alone time! ...until Thanksgiving comes and we have to face family, BUT ANYWAY--

1. NO MORE CLASSES!

Let's start this list with a bang! Turn off those alarm clocks that ring every 5 minutes; unpack that backpack full of papers and projects; relax your whole body from the incessant headaches and blistering feet; SLEEP ALL DAY--You have a week without classes! Or five days, like me.

At last we have a break from our professors and the loads of work they attack us with for weeks on end! It's time to make our brains stop thinking and learning for a little while.

Speaking of...

2. CATCH UP TO ALL THE THINGS!

I'm both dreading and anticipating this one because there's so much I have to catch up to, and I'm sure you do as well. For me, it's the rest of season seven of The Walking Dead (I ALREADY WATCHED THE FIRST EPISODE AND WROTE ABOUT IT HERE), season 4 of RBWY, a bunch of anime listed on my endless list typed on my phone, and tons of Youtube videos on my 'Watch Later' playlist. I am very guilty of binge-watching things, but shameless and even dare I say proud of it!

3. DO MY OWN PERSONAL STUFF!

This is more of a personal one, but we all have our hobbies and quirks we do in our free time. It can be simple things like listening to music, or as I mentioned earlier, watching Youtube videos, playing video games non-stop,

An example for myself would be drawing characters and writing stories that I enjoy, not art projects required from my university. Even in art school, many students and I in artistic fields have to take required 'core' art courses and even a few gen-ed classes here and there such as writing and science, so no even I'm not off the hook with that.

4. PULLING ALL THE ALL-NIGHTERS!

SLEEP? WHAT?! I CAN SLEEP ALL DAY LONG! But at night... that's when 'me' time begins, people! I may or may not have been guilty of staying up until 5 a.m. playing Sims...

But I'm just glad to spend extra hours watching shows or drawing! ...not like I have not already been doing so during the school year. Nope. Not at all. Yes.

And last, but not least...

5. EATING. ALL. THE. FOOD!

It's Thanksgiving, and it wouldn't be without food! Well, you have prepared yourself for all the things above. You got your laptop ready, all the tabs going and plugged in for good measure. It's 2 a.m. already, but no one is going to stop you! It's time to devour that giant bag of chips waiting in the closet!

Be careful about filling yourself up Wednesday night and/or Thursday morning, otherwise that Turkey is not going to fit into your stomach.

HAPPY BREAK AND THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! Plus Black Friday and Cyber Monday!

The 5 Painfully True Stages Of Camping Out At The Library

For those long nights that turn into mornings when the struggle is real.

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

You need sleep, but also have 13 things due in the span of 4 days.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

28 Daily Thoughts of College Students

"I want to thank Google, Wikipedia, and whoever else invented copy and paste. Thank you."

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

As this semester wraps up, students can’t help but be stressed about finals. After all, our GPAs depends on these grades! What student isn’t worrying about their finals right now? It’s “goodbye social life, hello library” time from now until the end of finals week.

1. Finals are weeks away, I’m sure I’ll be ready for them when they come.
