Preparing For Finals

As many of you know, this fall semester is coming to an end and that means what? Finals are coming and these tests can make or break your grade for the class. If you are on the verge of getting a C in any class, passing that final with a decent grade can guarantee you a B- or B in the class. It will boost your GPA tremendously if your other classes are in good standing and help boost your motivation. Studying for finals is mandatory unless you are a Creative Writing major or some type of major that just requires you to write papers instead of taking tests in class. Finals can be a time of stress if you cram before any of your tests and do not use the resources some professors may provide for you. I feel that once you get that final test date start studying instantly, so less pressure is on you and you are not second guessing every problem. A final could be cumulative which means that all chapters from the beginning of the semester to the end are all put into one test which is nerve-racking. Or, it can be just some chapters which can also be a pain.

The best way to study for finals is finding the time to study for each class, understanding the concepts for each chapter, and making sure that you do not rush the final when taking it. I want people to realize that a final means that, you must pass that test to achieve a higher grade or stay in the average you may be satisfied with. Preparing for final exams cannot only take days, but weeks and sometimes even months depending on each class you are taking. Some classes offer more work and dedication to succeed in the class, so cheating or anything that is dishonest will never help you when a final test comes along. If any anxiety is upon you which is frequent, do not panic during a test because that will only take a toll on your brain and body overall when it comes to that one question you are struggling on. A test can challenge you sometimes even when enough studying is done because some exams just require more than a week of studying.

Some people do not understand that understanding the concept is much more important than memorizing which will only be kept in your brain for a short period of time. Everyone on finals week do not stress, I know anyone is capable of passing with just a good amount of studying time. Group studying would benefit you in thinking more about the topic and asking questions that could not have been answered. A final can shape the way you think about test, so remember studying will gradually change your perspetive.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
