Preparing for Finals Week

Preparing for Finals Week

The dreaded time is almost here, finals week. Among the numerous tests and projects that we slave over during the week of finals, to the end of the semester, we have to think about packing up and saying goodbye to campus for our fabulous summer break. On top of that, we try to balance having jobs and saying 'see you later' to our college companions. So going into these last couple weeks of the semester, let's stay on top of our college game, so that we can enjoy these last few weeks!

1. Look ahead

Knowing what day your tests and projects are due is critical. You might be able to get started on a project now and not have to worry about it in the upcoming weeks. Getting things done ahead of time is a lot better then staying up all hours of the night during finals week to finish them. You might even have a little extra time to have some fun! Look ahead at what is due and you may find that you DO have a final in that class is worth it!

2. Packing up

Start packing up the things that you aren't using, like your winter clothes or shoes you won't be wearing. This will help with the stress at the end of the year, when it's the last thing you want to do! Planning ahead with what you're going to wear will help too. Keep your favorite sweatpants and sweatshirts out, but pack away the warmer ones you won't be needing. Go through your cleaning supplies and toiletries, and see if there's anything you can start throwing away.

3. Get organized

Start your gameplay now! Get out your calendar and start marking every single thing you will be doing for the next couple of weeks, because your life is about to get a lot busier. Make sure to make time for lunch dates with friends, and study time in the library as well. Put your work schedule and finals times in there also, just so you don't forget about the important stuff! Start printing out rubrics for your projects and buying supplies early.

4. Time for friends

Get your last girls nights in, because the clock is ticking! Plan a night a week to either study together, or go grab dinner at the dining center (saving money)! During finals week, you will all be so swamped and everyone will be on different schedules, so make these plans before time gets away from you all!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
