The Premier League is back, and with it, some very important awards. These awards are given for obvious reasons

-West Ham, for losing a combined 22-1 in their last 5 matches at home to Manchester City
The "Last thing you want to hear from your new signing" Award --
-West Ham's Sebastian Haller saying "What a sh*t game to start with!" he joked to the Mirror. "I go there for a lot of money, now first game City! Why?
"There are better games to build your confidence! Hopefully I will touch the ball! We will see."

The "We're so VARry" Award --
-Given to Gabriel Jesus, for his goal being disallowed because VAR saw that Sterling's *Checks notes* armpit…? Was offsides… and thus disallowed his goal (not that it made any impact to the game)

The "Not suited for the Premier League" Award --
-Jannik Vestergaard for his inability to track the ball and mark Ashley Barnes.
The "1-1" Award -- Given to the two teams who play embodied the spirit of what it means to play to a 1-1 Draw.
-Bournemouth & Sheffield United- Both goals coming from broken set piece plays with a lot of sloppy play and almost no offense going either direction.
The Jose Mourinho 0-0 Memorial Trophy Award -- Given to the two teams who embodied what it means to do nothing for 90 minutes just to earn one point.
-Wolves, who possessed the ball less than 30% of the game, conceded 13 fouls vs Leicester's 3, had 34 clearances, 8 shots with only 2 on target, and only 290 completed passes vs Leicester's 660. Truly a Mourinho-esque performance from Wolves. Also neither team made all 3 of their subs…
The "We should have seen this coming" Award --
-Newcastle, who sacked Rafa Benitez in favor of Steve Bruce and looked but helpless in attack. And to give that pitiful Arsenal backline a clean sheet? Sad.
The "If you had fun, you won" Award --
-Jesse Lingard who ran around the pitch at Old Trafford for 86 minutes only to have zero impact on the match.
The "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes" award --
-Chelsea, you let yet another manager leave, replace him with a coach with 1 year of experience coaching, and sell your best defender on deadline day. What did you honestly expect from your defense?
Debuting the Debut awards -- The debut season for the debut awards given to players on their debut's for their new club's.
The best single player debut--
-Erik Pieters picked up 2 fantastic assists, both of which were to Ashley Barnes. The first being a long range chip over the Southampton backline and the other was a cross from deep that perfectly found Barnes' foot to volley it home
Burnley v. Southampton | PREMIER LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS | 8/10/19 | NBC Sportsyoutu.be
The worst single player debut--
-Sebastian Haller, for his comments before the match against Man City and then not finding the net in the game also hurt.
The best group of players debut--
-Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka played good defense en route to a clean sheet versus Chelsea, while Dan James scored his first PL goal on his first shot attempt.
The Worst group of players debut--
-Chelsea, aside from Tammy Abraham hitting the post in the 4th minute, he, Mount, and Pulisic all looked in over their heads in their debut against Man Utd, not to mention Frank Lampard also being given this award for his managerial debut for the club.
The "Score a goal on your debut so the fans forget how bad you were for the other 72 minutes" Award --
-Tanguy Ndombele, who looked wobbly, unsure of himself, and out of his element for 72 minutes versus Aston Villa before rifling a 22 yarder past Mings and Heaton. Spurs fans may be angry about this one but any outsider watching the game would tell you the same thing.

The "Young Italian striker making his debut with roughly 20 minutes left in a 0-0 game but did not make any impact" Award--
-Moise Kean and Patrick Cutrone, whose debuts for their new clubs could easily be swapped with each other and no one would know the difference.
Back to the regular awards
The "Played your heart out but still lost" Award --
-Tyrone Mings and Tom Heaton. Villa did a fantastic job holding off Tottenham for 65 minutes after John McGinn's opening goal. Mings played a vital role in the defense with many clutch blocks and interceptions… Until Ndombele released a blast from outside the box and neither could react in time. Then for the second goal Mings did a good job blocking the shot but got incredibly unluckyyyyyyyy when it ricocheted off his fellow defender and right into the path of one of the most clinical strikers in the league, leaving Heaton helpless.
The OG OG award -- Given to the OG who scored the worst OG.
-Abdoulaye Doucoure, who redirected a cross right past ben foster and into the net for the opener for Brighton.
Watford v. Brighton | PREMIER LEAGUE HIGHLIGHTS | 8/10/19 | NBC Sportsyoutu.be
The Biggest Loser Award --
-Jack Grealish, who has lost 19 straight PL games, a record. All of Ireland parties in wake of your historic record.
The "You didn't mean to do it but it still worked so we won't question it" Award --
-Anthony Martial, who scored buy swinging his right boot too late for the cross but it hit his left leg right before he wanted to make contact then perfectly struck it through Kepa's legs. So even though you probably meant to hit it first time no one will question it.

(Ok time for real awards)
Best Counter Attack of the week--
-Man Utd's 4th goal vs Chelsea. Picked the ball up in their own 18 and score Through Dan James only a few passes later.

Most Questionable Starting Lineup--
-Spurs. Before Eriksen was brought on they seemed adrift on offense. There seemed to be zero creativity anywhere on the pitch for them. Not sure what Poch's plan was but once the Dane came on it was smooth sailing for them.
Best Goal--
-John McGinn for Villa, who received a fantastic chip from Mings, sent Danny Rose for a hotdog, and fired it past Lloris.

Luckiest Goal--
-Although I wrote quite a few words about the gracious deflection martial received off his left leg, the luckiest of the week would have to go to Kane, who saw a clearance bounce off the man marking him and leaving him 1 on 1 with Heaton, where he made no mistake, quite a good finish that. Honorable mention goes to Billy Sharp for being unmarked and pouncing on a loose ball inside the 6.

Unluckiest to concede (GK)--
-A tie between Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson. Heaton saved a point blank effort from Davison Sanchez only for his team to give an acre of space to Ndombele to blast it past him moments later. Henderson saved a point blank shot from Callum Wilson only for it to be deflected into an area with zero white shirts and gets it hammered past him from 4 yards away while still recovering from the initial save.
