Video games are becoming more and more popular as we advance into the age of virtual reality. I think that as technology improves, games will only get better. Sure, there is a lot of monotony in modern media, but as the pool of ideas is seemingly growing stagnant, I think just the contrary. I have written previously about some recent entries in the Call of Duty Franchise- I do enjoy their titles, but like many other people I am craving more from games, and rightfully so. Since technology is advancing so much further than anyone could have imagined when the Atari 2600 was released. Now, we can expect near perfect renders of human beings, sometimes breaking the so called "uncanny valley" (where virtual images are extremely close to being lifelike, but we notice something slightly off about the virtual creation visually. With the release of the Playstation VR headset and the various other VR headsets out there currently, we are moving towards a new and exciting era in video games. When I first started playing video games it was to escape sometimes. I felt like sometimes reality was just plain crummy, and for me video games were an outlet for some of the things that made me feel. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say, video games are a great time, and often a wonderful way to just get away from it all. Every time I boot up a game when I'm away from my friends, it brings me back to the days where we would come over to each others houses and play games all night. The internet has made a close clone of that experience with the integration of party and voice chats with video games. I can log into my Playstation 4, invite some of my close buddies, and we talk and communicate in the game. I play video games with my roommate despite us living together we both have our own consoles, and for me it's a welcomed escape from the weather, or really anything. For me it's an outlet. I get spend time with my friends virtually, and as technology progresses, the social experience and aspect of gaming will also advance right alongside the hardware and software going into modern games. This winter season is a perfect time for those of us who live in cold areas. I honestly love nothing more than to kick up my feet and boot up one of the many new releases I've picked up. With that all being said, I think that video games are a fun way to pass this winter when going outside is just not an option- consider video games as an alternative to scrolling through a bunch of things you've already watched on netflix.
