A Pre-Rush Pep Talk

As many people prepare for spring rush week, tensions rise and doubts begin to surface. I wanted to take the opportunity to give everyone a little pep-talk before we all begin this journey that will help us find our homes.

You are an incredible human being. You convert oxygen to carbon dioxide inside of you without even thinking about it (that's pretty awesome!)

But on a more serious note, you are incredible. Just remember that going into rush. You are worth so much more than you think you are. You deserve the best and will find the best. Be true to yourself! There is no other you out there, you make a difference in the lives of everyone around you -- even if it doesn't always seem like it. Any house would be lucky to have you.

Present yourself well and put your best foot forward, but that doesn't mean to start being someone you're not. Be confident in who you are! You're an original. Everyone I've talked to has told me that you have to be yourself and that if you don't, there's a high likelihood of you getting placed in a house that you won't be happiest in.

Take the time to take care of yourself. Rush is going to be fun, exciting, crazy, chaotic (controlled chaos) and exhausting, so take advantage of any breaks you get to stay hydrated and calm yourself down. Remember -- you've got this! The houses are trying to impress you just as much as you're trying to impress them. The members are all nervous too. Don't forget that. All you can do is be true to yourself and stay as upbeat as you can, and the rest will fall into place the way it's supposed to. My friends have told me to go into rush with an open mind and to trust the system. I'm going to do that because I've adopted that mindset, and I'm not as nervous as I could be. It does help.

Talk with your friends and hang out if you feel up to it! Everyone is going through this together, so your support system is endless. If you feel overwhelmed, take a nice shower at the end of the day and take time for yourself to watch a movie with your buddies. You'll all be thankful for the time together.

Everything will work itself out the way that is best for you and your current situation. If you get dropped from the house that you wanted to be in, or if a day goes badly, just remember that there is always a reason. Things have a funny way of always working themselves out. When you look back, you'll be able to see.

Lastly, have fun! You are more amazing than you can imagine, and everything will be okay! Rush isn't the end of the world, if things don't go your way, there's always next year. Good luck to everyone rushing this spring!

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
