Praying For Rain

Let's pray.

Let us pray. Pray for Rain.

Looking at The Weather Channel or watching the local news, all you see on the radar is sunny, drier days with no rain. We smell the smoke of the forest fires. We see the mountains we so deeply love burning down. We know families who have been evacuated from their homes. We keep watching the news hoping for good news, that the fires have been contained, and that rain is coming. Unfortunately, that isn't the local headlines on the news; here we sit, praying for rain.

Election Day was almost a week ago, where the Republican candidate, Donald Trump, was elected to be the 45th President of the United States. Many are not happy with the election results, and still wouldn't be even if the Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, was elected President. As believers, there is one thing we can still do, day in and day out: pray. We should be praying for all to see that God is still in control and the one who truly reigns on the Throne. We should be praying for President-elect Donald Trump. We should be praying for Congress, the House of Representatives, the Supreme Court, the cabinet, all who he may choose to help run our country, and those leaders who we voted for or won their race in the election, even at a city level. We should pray for those people to be good leaders, to be wise in his or her decisions. Together, we should be praying for God to open the new leaders hearts and minds, to be open and lead our country in the right direction. As believers, we know that God can let it rain in the elected leader's lives, and open the hearts of those who have turned away from Him. Together, we should be praying for rain.

Looking at our own daily lives, we can all see our own lives getting busier as the holidays arrive, the stress of tests, the end of the semester, or even families coming together for the holidays. We all face our own battles daily. Instead of watching our battlefields grow with flames, spreading our wildfire of worries, stress, and causing more harm than good, we should be praying. Praying for peace of mind, openness to the new that is here and in the coming months, clear eyes to see the path that God has already laid before us, and continuing to pray for our future. As believers, we pray. Let us pray for rain, for God to nourish our hearts and minds, calm our biggest fears, and end our internal wildfires.

So, let's join together in prayer. Praying for rain for the forest fires around us, the future set before us, and ourselves. The Holy Spirit is welcome as we pray for rain.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?
