Prayer Life Suffering

Does your prayer life ever suffer?

Prayer Life Suffering

When someone asks you to pray for something, do you say you're going to and actually do it? or do you just say you're going to and push it off?

So after attending a free concert and hearing the singer say that when he would say he’d pray for someone prayer request and he didn’t end up doing so. It made me realize that I’ve been doing that same thing because I always thought that even though I said I would I just thought God would hear me.

Philippians 4:6-7 | NIV | “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

To me this verse is saying that don’t be anxious about praying for something personal or something even if it’s not for you. Prayer is important no matter what the cost is. Having faith in each prayer can surely move mountains. We've all heard of the saying "Faith can move mountains" Well it really can, but we just have to have faith in everything we do to insure how we going about doing things.

I always would say I’d pray for people but I’d only pray for certain things because I’d judge them on how important they are. That being said I’d judge them from seeing how big of a request it was only to think that not every request is important.

Jeremiah 23: 12 | NIV | "Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you."

The summer after my freshman year, I struggled with self-doubt and what I was called to do. For awhile I was set on transferring and running from ministry. After much debating and rethinking and butting heads with my parents. That summer my prayer life was so rough because I tried running away from ministry. While I was struggling, I worked a camp called Tri-State and I was a CIT (Counselor In Training) and during the alter calls I was asked to talk and pray for the students! I was super nervous only because I had been trying to run away from ministry, and my prayer life was horrible, but the presence of God was known and he gave me the words to say.

At the end of camp that year, it gave me reassurance to what I was called to do, I'm called to study Youth and Family Ministry. And right now I'm getting a marketing degree to have a business background, and then I will fulfill my calling in ministry.

No matter how hard you try to run away from Ministry you never can. That's why prayer is always the answer, no matter how hard your prayer life is God is always listening.

Colossians 4:2 | NIV| “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful”

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
