Have you ever made a phone call to a direct line to an individual in order to get a hold of them? When calling a direct line to a certain person we expect them to answer, however sometimes calling directly we may wind up getting the answering machine in their office.

Prayer is considered our direct line to God and though we are not speaking into a technical device that is man-made we know that he hears our prayers and he does answer his children. The listening ear that we may need is always a straight connection and he is always listening. Prayer is considered a direct line but unlike placing a call on the phone the line is always open ready to hear from his children. Sometimes we do not see the value of prayer as being a direct line to the Father, because we may not always get the answers we want right away. However when we are having a great day, a bad day, a day in between, God is the Father who will always listen to his children and is there anytime to just talk to or just be there beside you.

Though He is not physically right beside you he will always comfort and answer your prayers for He is the ultimate Father. The answers may not even be considered the response that we seek, however conceptually the response is exactly what is needed throughout our daily lives. God hears our prayers and the Father is always willing to listen to the concerns of his children along with being the comforting support that is sometimes needed to survive in the whirlwinds of the storms that may come into our lives. Whether we are we in tears or laughing with joy we should take comfort in knowing that the Father loves his child so much that the direct lines are always open to reach out to the Father above who loves his children and will be that listening ear.

Psalm 83:1 (TNIV) O God, do not remain silent; do not turn a deaf ear, do not stand aloof, O God.

Psalm 86:1-3 (TNIV) Here me, LORD, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; save your servant who trusts in you. You are my God; have mercy on me, Lord, for I call to you all day long.

Are you using your direct line to the Father who will always be that listening ear even if you just need somebody to talk to, through prayer or conversation or in HIS Word? Instead of trying to call on a cell-phone take a moment to call directly to the Father above who will always respond and listen to his children for he loves you.

The Daily Struggles of Being a College Commuter

I've been in college for four years now. I spent half my time as a commuter and half as a resident so I've experienced both sides of the housing spectrum. One thing I've learned comparing the two is that my struggles as a commuter far outweigh anything I went through while living on campus. Commuters have to deal with the problems school brings along with a slew of other issues; I've filled up my gas tank in the worst kind of weather conditions and napped in random places in public more times than I'm proud to say of. This is a list of some of the most challenging aspects of being a commuter.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!
