A Prayer For OSU
Ohio State University

A quiet, grayMonday morning, the day after Thanksgiving break and an epic sized weekend of football. No one could ever imagine what they would be waking up to on that terrifying day. November 28, 2016, at 9:52AM in less than two minutes the lives of eleven students would be forever changed and the campus overrun with unknown and uneasiness. In the end, eleven students were injured and transported to the hospital along while one dead suspect lay silenced for good on the campus grounds. But the campus didn't stay there, within moments of the alert being lifted OSU began to make a comeback and grow more unified than ever before despite such horrific act of violence minutes ago. But this isn't the story about what happened but rather to hopes and prayers of all college students and voices across the nation standing with The Ohio State University.

This morning as a nation and especially as college students across the nation we stand together in prayer for your campus. In moments like these, we all need to stop and remember the family that each one of us have. I am sure many of you called home to tell mom or dad you were safe and to remember how appreciative we must be for them. Today the blessings each of us have, especially growing up in college and being out in your own world, make us so much more thankful especially as things feel like suddenly they are crashing in.

When the fear and terror rocked your campus I was blown away and proud of the responses I heard from student after student speaking of how they were all watching their friends backs and making sure everyone was safe. I admire your school so much for its willingness to come together and despite the fear, you are standing together despite this horrible attack on your students and I am sure friends of many of you. I am sure I nor anybody else can even begin to imagine what this has done emotionally or mentally to any of you but all our prayers are coming your way. Each and every one of you should be proud of how you reacted, of your professors and staff and most importantly the law enforcement on and your campus.

To the Officer Alan Hurjko who most likely saved the injured students lives and others, thank you for standing up in the eye of terror and doing what you were trained to do. Putting your life between the threat and students and bringing the outburst of chaos to a swift and utter halt. To all of the OSU police force and other outside EMS and law enforcement, we are so blessed and thankful for your quick and precise reaction and interaction to secure and protect each and every person there on campus.

To OSU as a whole, this violence doesn't define you and this one person cannot and will not keep you hidden and locked up in fear or terror. Today, tomorrow and every day going on from right now you will become stronger, and more united than ever before. We pray for peace, comfort, and a renewed sense of safety in the coming days for each person on your campus. Students I encourage you to continue to be there for one another and to always be vigilant to what is going on around you. From one college student to another, our hearts are broken for those students who were injured but we pray for a quick and healthy recovery. We also rejoice in the miracle that no one was critically injured and pray that each of you would be inspired to be the best you can and to let this build you up together and not to break you apart.

OSU you will be in our prayers! May healing touch your campus and all who have been affected by this unthinkable event.

We don't buy into these... just like how we don't buy our friends.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
