Prayer (n): a devout petition to God; a spiritual communion with God, as in supplication, thanksgiving, adoration, or confession.

Since day one, prayer has always been something that has been engrained in a lot of our minds. We were taught that God is always listening and that we should always communicate to Him about any and everything.

In the bible, the word pray appears about 313 times. This is something that is seen as very important and in fact is reiterated time after time as something we should do often. But more than just pray, pray for others.

A few months ago, I saw an ad for a book on facebook. It’s called 31 Prayers for my Future Husband. The first time I came across this ad, I ignored it but soon I started to see it appear on my news feed more and more, so finally I clicked on it to see what this book entailed. After reading about it for a good while I decided to buy two copies. One for myself and another for my best friend.

At this point in our life, neither of us are anywhere close to marriage. But knew this book was something we could both use at the different points in our lives we currently are in, as well as learning to seek guidance through prayer.

Praying for others is something important. To pray for their wisdom, protection, and grace. But praying for the man that will one day live a life with you and lead you closer to God is something that is so key.

Over the course of the past few months I have slowly been working my way through the 31 prayers, where it focuses on different topics and areas in which we should pray for him.

And though I may be as single as a pringle right now and have absolutely no clue who this guy is or where he may be in his life currently, it gives me a sense of peace to know that God is hearing my prayer I have over this guy that God is daily working on.

I pray for the protection over his heart. That the Lord may guard it and protect his heart, always. That if it has ever been broken, that He will help mend it in a way that only the Lord can do.

I pray for wisdom and guidance. That he is seeking God first and foremost, as well for wisdom. And that the Lord will show him guidance, always in how to become a godly man.

I pray for love. That he will understand the only one whose love will ever fully fulfill is the Lord’s. I pray that he will not look for that in myself and that I won’t do the same in him, either. I pray that he will love God above everything else…especially myself.

Praying for the man you will one day marry and be your husband, I think is something important. It is a good start to starting a firm foundation in your relationship.

I urge you to do the same.

Whether you know who this may be or not, prayer is a powerful tool in which can be used no matter what.

Pray for your future husband and that the Lord will protect and watch over him daily. That He is continuing to work on his heart, and that the Lord will always have his plan prevail for the two of you.

Praying is something you can no matter where you are at in life; no matter where you are in your relationship status; and no matter where you are in your daily walk with Christ.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
