Prayer is a time that we can go to God and let everything out, but it is also a time where we can ask for forgiveness, help, peace, and many other things. Our prayer life is one of the most important things we have in life, so why does it seem so hard at times? Is it because we have prayed for a certain thing so long that we have lost faith in God? Is it because we feel like we do not have the time to pray? Is it because we feel that He is not listening?
Life "gets in the way" of many things but pray and pray some more.
Like most people, I have had my fair share of problems. While I have them both big and small, going to God about them is the same. 1 Peter 5:7 says, "Casting all your cares upon him; for he careth for you." God can handle anything you throw His way. Looking at the world today, we have some big problems and none of them is something that God cannot handle.
I have been listening to the podcast series, Chrisley Confessions, for quite some time and Todd makes the statement often, "If God can bring you to it, He can bring you through it". That statement got me thinking about many circumstances and events that I have experienced. God gives us things that we can handle, and many times gives us things we cannot handle to bring us closer to Him. I think there is a misconception with the statement that God only gives us what we can handle because if He did that, we would not have to rely upon Him to help us. We would not have to pray like we do.
For every situation that is thrown our way, pray and pray some more.
In 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17, the Bible says, "Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you". While these verses are short, the message that they convey is simple; No matter what, always pray and give thanks. About a month ago, my pastor preached a message about prayer and posed the question: "When was the last time you prayed about everything?" Think about that long and hard. Praying about everything would take a great deal of time if it was done all at one time. There is not a specific time or place that we must pray and that is the beauty of it all.
Pray and pray some more.
