Productivity can simply be defined as producing something in a timely and effective manner. Many of us have lots to do on a daily basis, so getting up early and being productive is very important. Now that December is coming to a close, many of us still have "goals" that have been set before us in 2017. We must increase our personal productivity to ensure we reach those goals we had set before ourselves!
Utilize theses five tips to help improve your personal productivity as the year closes:
Prepare for your day/week ahead
I keep everything I need to get done organized in a planner but when I become overwhelmed with everything I have to get done I write my week out in advanced. I prioritize what has to be done the upcoming week and I schedule time for those things to help me focus on completing those task instead of getting overwhelmed with the big picture or month ahead.
Prepare a clean work space
Whatever your goals are you that need to finish and get done, it's best done in a clean environment. Our brain works better when we are trying to be productive in a clean environment versus clutter because we are able to focus on the task as hand rather than feeling "congested" by a dirty work area.
Turn off ALL your electronic notifications
Allowing yourself to have some time distraction free from the constant "pings" of your devices is good. It helps keep you from getting distracted and keeps you focused on the task you've set before yourself.
Allow time for yourself
Living such fast and busy lives, it can be hard to sit down and be productive for personal things, so allow some "self care" time. Give yourself rest therefore you can be rejuvenated to get done what you need to without burning out.
Be Positive
This one is simple yet important. Be positive to yourself, practice motivation talk, don't let negative thoughts creep in. There will be times were you feel like you haven't accomplished what you set out too or didn't meet your goals but stay positive. Just because they didn't happen for you in the time you set out for doesn't mean you'll never reach your goals.
