"Mom, quit crying!"

After being a student for two years now, I've learned what I need to actually bring to school with me. Some things I thought I absolutely had to bring with me (reading books) and I never touched them.

1. Brita Filter

2. A Planner

It’s good to write down everything you need to accomplish, like homework and plans! A planner definitely helps keeps you organized and have all your plans in one place!

3. Medicine and a First Aid Kit

4. ID - meaning, school ID!

5. Parking Pass

On my campus, you can't do or go anywhere without a parking pass and your ID.

6. (New) Clothes *wink wink*

7. Pillows, Blankets, and Stuffed Animals

They're good to cuddle with since you're off all on your own.

8. Sticky tack, thumb tacks, adhesive strips, nails, etc.-- whatever it takes to decorate your room and bathroom

9. Closet Organizers

These are game changers right here.

10. Trash Can

Freshman year, my roommates and I didn't have a trash can in our kitchen for about a month. Sophomore year, I bought one right away.

11. Laundry Hamper

Detergent and dryer sheets go along with this.

12. Kitchen Supplies

Bowl, plate, cups, fork, spoon, knife; the essentials to eat and drink with.

13. Towels

14. All Electronics and Cables

God forbid, you get to school without you cell phone charger!

15. Backpack/Book Bag

16. Own Printer

There have been multiple times where I needed to print last minute or the library is closed, so it's nice to have my own printer.

17. Television

Technically, you really don't need this, but it's definitely a good thing to have for TV shows or Netflix and Hulu. Good procrastination method for sure.

18. School Supplies and Textbooks

19. Comfy Shoes

You won't want to go to class at 9 a.m. in high heels

20. Alcohol – again *wink wink*

Some things are too obvious, like money. You can’t go to college or eat or anything with some cold hard cash. To all those freshman, enjoy your first year! It’ll be fun!

"Mom, I told you to quit crying. I have to come home for a doctor's appointment next week. Next week!"

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
