9/11. No longer is this just a date in our nation. No longer is this date not associated with loss and horrific tragedy. No longer will this just be a date to forget. We will never forget. Our nation, and the world, will never forget what happened on September 11.
On September 11, 2001, the lives of Americans, and arguably the world, were changed forever. On that morning, terrorists from al-Qaeda flew two planes into the World Trade Center, one plane into the Pentagon and one plane into a field. That plane was headed for the White House, but it was diverted off course by the brave passengers aboard. Unfortunately, no passengers aboard those planes survived. Men, women and children all innocently lost their lives. Brave firefighters, police officers and medical aid lost their lives doing their job to protect and help citizens. This day undeniably changed our world today. Since then, we have been involved in a war with the Middle East. People younger than me don't even know what the world was like before these terrorist attacks. Our world today is unfortunately covered with news of acts of terrorism.
This year marks the fifteenth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. This is a very hard day for many. I hope everyone takes time during the day to remember all those lost. I hope everyone will send thoughts and prayers to family and friends grieving lost loved ones. This day is about respect and remembering and grieving this tragedy as a nation. Even if you did not know one of the almost 3,000 lives that were tragically taken that day, 9/11 still rests heavy on everyone's hearts. This is a day we as a nation come together.
Below are some photographs from 9/11 I find powerful or important to see. While there are many others, these are some I wanted to share. Some of these may be disturbing to others.
Never forget, and God Bless America.
