Recently, I came across this saying and it struck me in a very real way. "It's a bad day, not a bad life." Eight simple words that changed my perspective completely. Sometimes you have a bad mental health day and nothing seems to be worth it or working out how it's supposed too. Sometimes you have several of these days in a row, but sometimes not. It's called being human.
As human beings we all struggle, we're all facing our personal battles, and we all strive our best to hide them from the outside world. Unfortunately, that's how society molds us to be; we share the good, push down the bad and continue to pretend everything is okay.
However, the issue with internalizing the negative emotions is that they tend to harbor and create an overall negative outlook on your way of life. You begin to tally up all of the reasons why today was a bad day and ultimately begin to believe that all of those bad moments add up to a bad life while attempting to maintain the happy persona you created for the outside world.
We have to accept the bad days for what they are and accept them fully. Don't tell people you're "okay" if you're not truly feeling "okay." Don't harbor those feelings within yourself and pretend they do not exist. Instead, face these bad days head on and remember that you have a whole new day tomorrow to live your life and live it the best way you possibly can.
We tend to hyper-focus on the struggles and hardships and ignore the blessings that were placed right in front of our faces. It's easier said than done to do, I understand that, but at the same time we HAVE to remember that someone out there has it worst off than you.
Be grateful for the blessings that are placed in front of you and APPRECIATE the days you are given. Some may be bad but I promise you other days are great. Life is full of beauty, mystery, and miracles but you can't condemn it for throwing you a challenge or two. The beauty of life outweighs the hardships and if you take a step back you'll truly be able to see that.
So, on those bad days keep your chin up and remember that the clouds will pass and the sun will shine again.
