We’re officially past the halfway point of the semester and it’s safe to say that college students everywhere are exhausted. Between balancing over a dozen credits in a 16 week period, working multiple jobs and trying to keep up with our homework and social lives, there seems to be only one option when it comes time to relax and recharge: naps.

To be honest, in the course of the semester so far, it feels as if I’ve taken more naps than I have in my entire life. I know that I’m not alone in this, my friends and classmates have expressed that they’re in the same boat as me. So if you can’t help but “rest your eyes” for a few minutes and need some justification for this action, here are 27 reasons why power naps are a college student’s BFF:

1. They are so necessary.

2. ...and are highly beneficial.

3. They leave us feeling recharged.

4. It gives us the energy we need to tackle the rest of our day.

5. They relieve stress.

6. …and give us an escape from said stress.

7. It’s relaxing AF.

8. They don’t have to last more than a few minutes for us to feel refreshed.

9. They help us focus.

10. We always have time for them.

11. If we nap early enough in the day, we fall asleep easily at night.

12. …which means better sleep and more energy for us the next day.

13. Homework doesn’t exist when we’re napping.

14. ...and, as mentioned, neither does stress.

15. ....or all of our other responsibilities.

16. We don’t risk feeling groggy with a power nap.

17. ...which means no questioning what time/day/year it is when we wake up.

18. It helps us make up for lost sleep.

19. It doesn’t require thinking.

20. It saves us money on coffee to keep us energized.

21. It’s one of our greatest talents.

22. It makes us more productive.

23. They’re better than going to class.

24. It helps us (try to) avoid all-nighters.

25. We can avoid the post-lunch slump.

26. It helps freshmen avoid the “Freshman 15.”

27. We’ll be significantly less moody (and our friends will thank us for it).

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
