Life can get pretty crazy. Some days, we can feel like there are not enough hours in the day and there is always something left to be done. Living a life filled with constant stress can lead us to lose the true sense of purpose we have. Although we may not be able to ever truly escape the responsibilities we have, there is a way to escape the constant stress we feel. Mindfulness is the idea of being completely aware in the present moment. This process is very grounding and can help you find center in especially high-stress moments.

The benefits of mindfulness can be shown through meditation and other easy practices. Spending a few minutes each day on your mental health can greatly improve your mood and well being. Mindfulness promotes a healthier lifestyle and thought process, which is beneficial in itself. You can download different apps that have easy 5-minute meditations that can help to calm you down during high-stress moments. Even things like adult coloring books, bracelet making, and other simple and focused activities help to practice mindfulness.

Overall, living life with a positive outlook and trying to prioritize your mental health could not have any negative effects. Mindfulness is a simple outlook on life that will help keep you centered; especially during those moments when you feel like your mind is running a thousand miles a minute. So, spend a few minutes each day and simply close your eyes and count your breaths, and you will be practicing mindfulness. You will be living in the present moment.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
