Late Thursday night, every Harry Potter fan's dream came true....drum roll.
The synopsis of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," a new play by J.K. Rowling, was released. The sequel is set 19 years after "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."
Opening in London next year, the play is written by Jack Thorne and directed by Olivier and Tony award-winner John Tiffany. The official synopsis which was released on Pottermore this past Thursday evening:
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: Sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
There are many thoughts running through the brain of the common potterhead. Finally, a real ending compared to the somewhat incomplete epilogue. Harry is not dealing with all the evils of Voldemort, and the death eaters, but now with raising a family, a job, and of course, bills. More specifically, an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband, and father of three. Oh, what a thought of seeing the possibilities of the wizarding world in later days, or Post-Voldy as I like to put it.
Rowling can do no wrong, that's for sure. Will we see all of our favorite Hogwarts students taking positions of power? Neville as Headmaster? Only a select few will know...
It was also announced that the play will be broken into two parts, and only a handful of muggles will be able to experience both parts. Previews start on June 7, with opening performances of Part One and Part two on July 30.
The story only exists because the right group of people came together with a brilliant idea about how to present Harry Potter on stage. I'm confident that when audiences see harry Potter And The Cursed Child, they will understand why we show to tell this story in this way".
BUT NO FEAR...
After "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" opens in London's West End, Warner Bros releases new Wizarding World entry "Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them" in November. This spinoff film picks up 70 years before the first Harry Potter!
All Witches, Wizards, and Muggles alike have a lot to look forward to!
So dare I say...
