I'm all about loving yourself to the fullest. I think society doesn't promote it enough at all in the media. Everywhere you look your being told get this lifted or add this on when truly you are perfect to begin with. Preferring to myself personally I know I'm not the best from of me but that's because I'm lazy. I don't put my all into each 24 hours like I should and I know that sadly. So what if I did? What if we all did give our 100% and then told everyone who looking for perfection to stop it. As women living in the now, I want to emphasize how important it is to love yourself first.

I could go on a rant and blame the media for everything but let's really dig into it. What makes you unhappier with yourself? I believe all my unhappiness stems from how I think mentally about myself. I see the flaws first then the beauty in my ways. I'm telling you this personally because want my readers to know your not alone. Until about 2 months ago I was literally only posting pictures of myself maybe once every 3 months. I had gained weight and didn't feel pretty at all. The problem with all this is my personal appearance affected my thinking and ultimately stopped me from taking a lot of social and career risk. It may sound like I'm ranting but my point is to love yourself or no one will. Stop looking for compliments and build within love within yourself. It won't happen overnight, trust me, but here are some things I do.

I work on my appearance until I'm happy

I change my hair and makeup every time I don't feel my best. I live by the quote if you look your best then you feel your best, so I go hard on my skin and hair products. If your makeup doesn't lay right for you to slay, change it! What's stopping you? You are the only thing standing between you and happiness.

Take Care of Yourself

Every night I prep my skin and hair for the next day. If I wait until the morning I know my hair and skin won't act right so I get it together the night before. Since I'm always rushing in the morning it gives me time to slow down and actually pay attention to the details of my makeup. I also make sure to take my vitamins and practice positive thinking. I believe everything begins in the mind. If you can think and believe it you can break down the walls to do it. You are the only one that knows what you truly need and want. Work on yourself like you are a never finished masterpiece.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
