Post-Week Six Top 25 Rankings
Sports Illustrated

Some entertaining games took place in week six, and some...well, let's just say they weren't very competitive (looking at you, Rutgers). The updated AP Poll has been released, and now it's my turn to release my version of the rankings.

  1. Alabama
  2. Ohio State
  3. Clemson
  4. Michigan
  5. Washington
  6. Texas A&M
  7. Louisville
  8. Nebraska
  9. Wisconsin
  10. Baylor
  11. Tennessee
  12. Houston
  13. West Virginia
  14. Boise State
  15. Florida State
  16. Miami
  17. Virginia Tech
  18. Utah
  19. Ole Miss
  20. Western Michigan
  21. Florida
  22. Arkansas
  23. Oklahoma
  24. Auburn
  25. Navy

Florida State (+5) jumped the most in my updated rankings, with five teams (#17-21) climbing 4 spots. Houston (-6) and Miami (-6) took the biggest hits with their respected losses. Oklahoma, Auburn, and Navy entered the top 25, while Stanford, Colorado, and North Carolina dropped out.

My top 7 matches the AP top 7. Nebraska (#8, #10 AP), Wisconsin (#9, #8 AP), and Baylor (#10, #11 AP) round out my top ten. I do not understand why the AP did not move Tennessee (#11, #9 AP) at all after they lost to A&M. Yes, it was a double-OT loss, but it does not validate keeping them in the top nine. Houston (#12, #13 AP) suffered a huge loss vs Navy (#25, #25 AP), essentially eliminating them from the CFB Playoff.

West Virginia (#13, #20 AP) continues to get overlooked by the AP. Boise State (#14, #15 AP) cracks the top 15, sneaking past both Florida State (#15, #14 AP) and Miami (#16, #16 AP) - who played each other pretty much even in an intense rivalry game. I have Virginia Tech at the same spot as the AP (#17). I like Utah at #18 (#21 AP), but I still think the AP loves Ole Miss (#19, #12 AP) too much. Western Michigan (#20, #24 AP), Florida (#21, #18 AP), Arkansas (#22, #22 AP), Oklahoma (#23, #19 AP), Auburn (#24, #23 AP), and Navy finish off my rankings.

Do you agree or disagree with my rankings? We are now nearing the halfway point of the season, and the playoff picture is slowing starting to come into focus. Every game is important, and some have playoff implications. Here are the best games in week seven:

Kansas State @ Oklahoma - 11:00 AM on ESPN

Alabama @ Tennessee - 2:30 PM on CBS

North Carolina @ Miami - 2:30 on ABC

Ole Miss @ Arkansas - 6:00 PM on ESPN

Arizona State @ Colorado - 7:00 PM on PAC12 Network

Ohio State @ Wisconsin - 7:00 PM on ABC

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.

One Book Made Me Question Existence In Its Entirety

"The Stranger" by Albert Campus touches upon many heavy elements... but not in the way you expect. Although it touches upon the aspects of death and love, it also deals with a hidden philosophy similar to that of nihilism.

The story follows the short life events of Meursault, a Frenchman whose carelessness for his actions eventually ends him in jail and dependent on a jury of people to judge the ethicality of his decision and the punishment that he deserves. He eventually gets the death penalty and all throughout he is nonchalant and almost apathetic towards his situation. He finally snaps when the prison sends a priest to him to absolve him of his sins and to cajole him in confessing to the lord.
