Post-Week Eight Top 25 Rankings
Rich Barnes - USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State and Texas A&M both fell on the road in week 8, but those were not the most shocking losses from a ranked team. SMU smacked Houston, sending them out of the AP top 25. Do they stay in my top 25 rankings? Where do the Buckeyes and Aggies fall? Here is my updated top 25 rankings, compared to the AP Poll.

  1. Alabama
  2. Michigan
  3. Clemson
  4. Washington
  5. Louisville
  6. Nebraska
  7. West Virginia
  8. Baylor
  9. Ohio State
  10. Texas A&M
  11. Boise State
  12. Wisconsin
  13. Florida State
  14. Utah
  15. Auburn
  16. Western Michigan
  17. Tennessee
  18. Florida
  19. Oklahoma
  20. North Carolina
  21. Navy
  22. Colorado
  23. LSU
  24. Penn State
  25. Virginia Tech

Only two teams – Auburn (+6) and West Virginia (+3) – climbed more than 2 spots from last week’s poll. The only teams who dropped but stayed in the rankings are Ohio State (-7) and Texas A&M (-4). LSU, Penn State, and Virginia Tech jumped into the top 25, while Houston, Arkansas, and Miami dropped out.

My top 5 matches the AP top 5. Nebraska (#6, #7 AP), West Virginia (#7, #10 AP) and Baylor (#8, #8 AP) enter this week’s rankings higher than Ohio State (#9, #6 AP) and Texas A&M (#10, #9 AP). I have WVU over Baylor because, up to this point, the Mountaineers have been more impressive with what they have done on their schedule. An impressive road win vs Texas Tech (in which the explosive Red Raiders’ offense was held to 17 points) and a strong showing vs TCU (34-10 W) gives them the nod over the Bears’ single noteworthy win (35-24 vs Oklahoma State).

Boise State (#11, #13 AP), Wisconsin (#12, #11 AP), Florida State (#13, #12 AP) and Utah (#14, #17 AP) stayed pretty much the same in my poll, with the exception being an undefeated Broncos squad jumping the Badgers, who have two losses. Auburn (#15, #15 AP) made a huge leap after obliterating (then ranked) Arkansas 56-3. Western Michigan (#16, #20 AP) and Tennessee (#17, #18 AP) stayed put. Florida (#18, #14 AP) and Oklahoma (#19, #16 AP) continue to be slightly overrated in the AP Poll. North Carolina (#20, #21 AP), Navy (#21, #22 AP) and Colorado (#22, #23 AP) inched up in the rankings. LSU (#23, #19 AP), Penn State (#24, #24 AP) and Virginia Tech (#25, #25 AP) round out my top 25.

Do you agree with my rankings? While you think about it, here are the best games to watch in week 9:

West Virginia @ Oklahoma State – 11:00 AM on FOX

Florida vs Georgia – 2:30 PM on CBS

Baylor @ Texas – 2:30 PM on ABC

Washington @ Utah – 2:30 PM on FS1

Nebraska @ Wisconsin – 6:00 PM on ESPN

Clemson @ Florida State – 7:00 PM on ABC

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
