So you're single on Valentine's Day and have to face the dread that comes along with not only the day itself, but the few days after. You know the drill, countless Instagram posts about how much someone you follow loves their significant other, or a Facebook update about how a classmate (you probably forgot you were friends with) spent their day. It gets old, to say the least, but there are ways to deal with all of your post Valentine's blues.
Buy discounted candy.
Despite what everyone says (whether they're in a relationship or not), the best part about Valentine's Day is the candy. It's everywhere you go and usually comes in a heart-shaped box. While everyone's rushing to get their last-minute gifts, you can sit back, relax, and wait. Head to your local convenience store, do yourself a favor, and buy that heart-shaped box of chocolate at half-price. Enjoy it while you laugh at everyone who paid $5 instead of $2.50.
Hang out with friends (single ones).
They know you, and they know how it feels to be without a Valentine, so they also know how awesome it can be if you try. You're not obligated to buy presents and you don't have to try to impress anyone because, let's be real, they've probably already seen you at your worst. If you can turn Valentine's Day into any other normal day with the help of a group of friends, you can make it bearable. Plus, it's an excuse to hang out with your favorite people!
Exercise.
If working out is something you've always wanted to do more of, what better time to start then after Valentine's Day? You'll feel better both physically and mentally. It could become a great, healthy habit. It could lead to a lifestyle change that you may not have even realized you needed. You might also feel a little guilty about all the candy you bought, too...
Use Netflix to your advantage.
Make it your boyfriend, or your girlfriend, or just your friend in general. There's nothing more relaxing than sitting at home with your favorite food (without having to share) and your favorite TV show to enjoy.
Watch your favorite romantic comedy.
You've probably seen it at least 20 times, and for good reason. It's your favorite, so enjoy it! It's okay to wish you were the main character who finds his or her love interest somewhere through the plot and lives happily ever after. That's the point! They give us hope that maybe next year we'll have a Valentine and won't have to wish the day would just pass us by. They remind us that it's okay to believe that someday, we'll be the ones who figure it all out, whether it's love or life or something else, as cheesy as it may sound. At the end of the day, you have yourself (and chocolate). What else do you need?
