We've all been there.
"Continue watching the current episode?" Netflix says to you.
"Ugh yes, of course," you whisper back as you lay in your bed wrapped up in a blanket burrito while you toss the next piece of popcorn into your mouth.
While binge watching may be a bit frowned upon in our society, it is truly quite an art. It takes a lot of focus, determination and energy. You've got to want to get to the end of the season to know what happens. You have to focus your attention on this one task, letting nothing and no one try to distract you. The show becomes your life, and you've got to want to watch it all.
As a college student and owner of a Netflix account, I know what it's like to binge watch some really great TV shows. From "How I Met Your Mother" to "The Office," I have managed to watch entire series in just a couple of weeks. All of the shows are available for you to view, so why wouldn't you want to binge? Nothing gets better than that.
It's not easy, though. It takes a lot of time and consumes your life, pretty much. Sometimes watching the next episode of "Friends" is all you can think about during an economics lecture. Or when your friends invite you to hang out but all you want to do is snuggle up in your bed with the perfect show. You've got to learn how to manage your time between classes, friends and Netflix. THE STRUGGLE, I know.
Although binge watching is great, it makes us experience a roller coaster of emotions. We all know that life cycle of the Netflix binge watcher. They start off eager and excited for the new journey, wide eyed and waiting to see what happens in every passing episode. Then, everything is focused on the characters and plot of every season. After all of the flips and drops of the show, you realize that it's almost over. You finish the final episode, and it hits hard. You start to recap of everything that happened while reevaluating your own life. Suddenly, you don't know what your'e going to do next with your life and have to find another show to cure your binge watching addiction.
It's OK, you'll get through it.
For all of you that have found yourself in a rut after finishing a show that you really loved and don't really know what to watch next, below I've got a list of shows that are worth giving a try.
1. "The Office."
If you are like me who waited and have yet to experience the awesomeness of "The Office," START IT NOW. I promise that it will be one of the best decisions you will ever make. It's hilarious, heartfelt and overall a really enjoyable show.
2. "Friends."
Can you say classic '90s sitcom? It is the best of the best. You get to follow the lives of six best friends through fights, heartbreaks and even weddings. It is for sure a 10/10.
3. "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."
Kimmy Schmidt is hilarious and definitely makes you want to be her best friend. She was kidnapped and forced to live in a bunker for years until she was rescued and everything was new to her. Her quirky comebacks make you laugh out loud and want to continue watching more.
4. "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend."
Sure, we have all had those summer camp crushes that we all forget about when school starts back up again, but Becca didn't. She actually moves to her lifetime love's hometown in California from New York just to be close to him again. This show is mixed with humor and theatrical singing. It is very entertaining and binge watching worthy.
5. "The West Wing."
If you are a slight nerd and enjoy the world of politics, then you should REALLY watch this show. It gives an accurate inside look into the jobs and tasks that the president and White House staff experience. Plus it casts a young Rob Lowe, and what's better than that?
