Post Midterm Feels: As Told By Ron Swanson

For us here at Florida Atlantic University, midterms have just finished up. Surely not all have begun, or some may have long ended at other schools, but most students can relate to the exhaustion of post midterms week. If you are lucky enough to never have experienced midterms week then bless your soul because it is draining. Midterms week is similar to running a 5K marathon, except you are secluded to a study area and sitting around trying to fill your brain with as much information as humanly possible. Or at least until your Dunkin' Donuts coffee wears off. The weekend after midterms is either a party or a "see how long you can sleep" and try to beat your previous years' record.
One of the best (fictional) men I know is Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation. If you don't know him, then get to know him. Trust me, you won't regret it. Except maybe a little regret for the binge watching of Parks and Recreation. However, Ron Swanson is the spitting image of my post midterm feels.

"I studied really hard and I still got a 60....How?"

On the other hand, if I aced that midterm I will probably look like:

That moment when you realize there is nothing that will make you leave your bed besides eating, drinking, and using the bathroom. And even that requires a lot of effort so it's debatable.

Except if I do decide to eat then my healthy eating habits probably went "flying out the window". Don't judge me, I deserve it!

Waking up the next Monday late for class because hibernating over the weekend just wasn't enough.

Teacher in class after midterms: "Are you ready for the next lesson?!" Me: *Groans*

OH, the good news is that after midterms week there is no more sitting on the floor at the library because there are no seats open! Yes, everything will go back to normal and the place is (almost all) yours again! Until finals week, of course.

Based on my performance, I may have to look myself in the mirror and say, "yes, you really HAVE to attend all lectures. You can do better".

When your parents call to ask how midterms were and you inform them you may not have done so hot and they say, "you can't avoid your responsibilities forever".

But at the end of the day, you still have to praise yourself for getting through the dreaded midterms week and getting good grades so go ahead and "treat yo self" over the next couple days! Maybe post midterms week isn't that bad after all!

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
