What We Have To Look Forward To The Rest Of The Year At Ball State

What We Have To Look Forward To The Rest Of The Year At Ball State

Homecoming is a wonderful time at Ball State University. "Homecoming Redefined" is actually our prospective new slogan... Not really, but it should be. Most students are exhausted after a week so packed full of fun...But where do we go from here? What do we have left to look forward to in our little town?

We live in Muncie. There's not a lot to do here. It's a small place, and there aren't that many people. Although there are two Walmarts, there isn't a lot to offer students as entertainment. Thankfully, even though Homecoming is over, as residents of Muncie and Ball State students we still have a lot to look forward to for the rest of this year.

If you find yourself unable to get over the post-Homecoming blues, just take a look at this list of all that Ball State still has to offer us.

1. Fall Break

After an exciting Homecoming weekend, and feeling like there's nothing left to do, we're all a little too excited to get the heck out of town for awhile. You can go home, visit friends at other schools, but most importantly, say goodbye to Muncie for awhile and get a taste for new activities instead of the same old, Scotty's and Insomnia, every weekend. Get your fall on: drink that PSL, go to that pumpkin patch, break out that light jacket.

2. Christmas Break

What??? We get to leave??? Again?? Seriously, Ball State students love getting away from Muncie. And wait, this break is 3 weeks long??? Thank you Fergie, thank you Benny, thank you Frog Baby, for giving us this wonderful gift. We are forever indebted to you. There is nothing quite like an Indiana winter. And let's face it, even if there was class, none of us would be walking there in six foot of snow. Use those weeks to get far away from Muncie, you lucky kid, you. Plus, presents.

Alright, alright. I'm being a little dramatic. We like it here, we really do. It's pretty easy to grow tired of the day-to-day life as a student. As second semester goes on, it's easy to forget that you do like it here. Let's face it, being surrounded by all our friends would be great if we didn't have classes to stress about. The light at the end of the dark tunnel...

3. Spring Break

Seriously, let us leave, please. It's so cold.

4. Summer

WOOHOO! WE'RE DONE!

Sorry, Muncie. Homecoming is something that students look forward to year-round. After that, there aren't that many university sponsored events to look forward to. Sometimes we really do love you, but sometimes we really don't. The best part about being a citizen of Muncie is having the liberty to come and go as we please.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
