Life After College Rocks!!

This is it! Class of 2017, we did it!! Onto bigger, better things and a bright future to come!! As any student who has just graduated from college, we have a lot to look forward to, post-grad life:

  1. Freedom

I think this is the most obvious factor, post-grad life: Freedom! Right when we are given our degree and walk down the aisle, freedom is so near in the air that we can now taste it! We are free from school and free from our studies. Now, we are free to do whatever we want and whatever we put our minds to! All it takes is a little hard work. But for now, we can enjoy the freedom of mind, life, and solitude, post-grad life

2. Sleep

After we graduate, I think all students are definitely looking forward to catching up on sleep the most. We have worked our poor brains for 4+ years in college and during the years of school before that. Our brains deserve top quality rest and relaxation, am I right? So you go for it-- lay down and get that top quality sleep! You deserve it, champ!

3. Power and Knowledge to do Anything

Okay, so maybe not anything; but at least you will now have the power and advantage over others to do whatever you set your mind to-- the sky's the limit and you’re the pilot! Whether it’s a new job, career, relationship, life, travel, or whatever, never be afraid to dare, jump, and go above and beyond for it!

4. Travel

Some and most post-grads travel after they graduate… because why not? You only got one life to life so you may as well explore and see what life has to give! There’s a lot to see out there. No matter where you go, know your time will be worthwhile! You have worked and studied so hard in school. Now is the time to relax, unwind, and live a little!

5. Look for Work

This seems like an obvious fact. Post-grad, the majority of us will be in a tremendous amount of debt. It will be wise to instantly start looking for a job after college, depending on the amount of debt you will have. Or maybe you still don’t know what you want to do right away. That’s okay, too. I highly recommend taking the summer off. It will give you time to rest, relax, and time to think about what you want to do.

6. Start of a Career

To be honest, I don’t think anyone will ever know what they want to do in life. That’s totally normal-- especially in today’s generation. Throughout a person’s lifetime, he or she is always switching types of jobs. A “career” can now last anyone from a range of a 5+ years. So go ahead and establish that “career” of yours. If you don’t like it, you will have more careers in the future to work with. Nothing lasts forever and you have the freedom to change your life at any given point.

7. Establish a New Life-- One of Your Own

Your life is now at your hands-- you can do whatever you want now and I think that is the best possible freedom anyone can have! Whether you chose to move out of town, state, or country, the sky’s the limit and you are the master of your own destiny! Feel the freedom and have fun!!

Going to the gym and working out on a daily basis (with breaks once in awhile) has been a great way for me to feel good about myself. It is 100% more than just looking good. Especially after starting college and having the stress and anxiety of tests, assignments, and just figuring out my future, the gym at my school has definitely been a place of relief for me and I have numerous reasons of why everyone should push themselves to get to the gym when they can.

Oh college, lovely, lovely college. A four-year time span that is filled with many highs and many lows. Between procrastinating on an essay that is due at midnight to getting your first library card (if you know what I mean), college is a time that you should not take for granted, yet it is also a time where you feel like your entire world is falling apart. It is a time where one day you can feel like you are on top of the world and then the next day you are 500 feet below the ground surface.

It's a pain to learn but it's definitely worth it in the end.

When I was learning how to talk, I was taught both Portuguese and English at the same time. In elementary school, I started taking mandatory Spanish classes, which I did well in because of my knowledge of Portuguese. Then in high school, on top of taking Spanish, I also started taking French. Now, in college, already fluent in English and Portuguese, I'm in the process of becoming fluent in Spanish, and I have a standard high school level understanding of French.
