Now that Christmas is over, these long car-rides home will definitely need a good wintery playlist. I'm sure many of you will be exhausted from being asked about college, or if you have a girlfriend/boyfriend, so this is where the headphones come into play. Personally, I am usually burned-out from all the Christmas music, so my post-Christmas playlist are songs I believe match the wintery feeling without discussing Santa or Christmas Trees.

1. White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxes

Fleet foxes have a modern folk sound, which can easily be compared to artists like Neil Young and Bob Dylan. This song is probably one of my favorites of theirs. The harmony sounds so melodic and effortless, and the lyrics, though relate to winter, are very compelling. Many people have given their interpretations of these lyrics, yet I think the band wanted a happy/innocent song to enjoy the wintery weather.

2. Darlin' by Houndmouth

My brother, knowing my taste in music, introduced Houndmouth to me, and ever since then I have been hooked. Houndmouth, though considered Indie-Rock, remind me of a vintage folk rock kind of feel. This song is definitely a chill, relaxing song, and the lyrics refer to winter-related phrases.

3. Harvest Moon by Neil Young

I love Neil Young's songs because the lyrics are always so well written and poetic. His music is vintage folk, with his unique voice and harmonica accents. Even though this song is more fall-related, it still easily depicts the love and longing people feel during any time of year. This song makes me want to wrap up in a warm blanket and drink a hot cup of coffee by a fire.

4. Sunday Morning by The Velvet Underground, Nico

I chose this song, not only because I love The Velvet Underground, but because Christmas is on a Sunday this year. The Velvet Underground has a rock feel and almost a sensual sound. Most of their songs are slower and relaxing with very unique lyrics. This song is extremely calming and if I am sleeping in the car it does not disturb my peace.

5. Perfect Day by Lou Reed

Lou Reed , like many other artists on this playlist, is a very influential rock singer. Yet unlike other rock songs he has more of a relaxed/psychedelic vibe to his music. This song always puts me in a good mood because it describes his vision of a "perfect day", which makes me in turn think of what I would depict a "perfect day".

6. Every Other Freckle by Alt-J

Alt-J is an indie band, that has a unique sound that definitely separates them from any other indie rock band. They are known for their strange yet thoughtful lyrics that seem to always have a deeper meaning. This song in particular, to me, is the writer's way to tell the girl he loves her so much that he wants to be every part of her. The lyrics aren't the only thing I like about this song, the change of tempos and beats catch my attention from the beginning to the end of the song.

7. Girl From North Country by Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan is a vintage folk singer whom is known for many things. The one trait of his that stands out to me the most is his flawed voice. He seems to not care for the social norms that entitle a singer to having a flawless voice. This song is super relaxing from the acoustic guitar to the harmonica. The lyrics to this song are also very poetic about a love of his.

8. Something by The Beatles

The Beatles are well known in the music world. They are often acknowledged for their strange songs like "I Am The Walrus" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds". This song, though not as popular, is one of my personal favorites. The lyrics are beautifully written about a girl whom attracts the singer so well with one trait.

9. In a Week by Hozier and Karen Crowley

Hozier, though considered indie-rock, in my opinion, is more folk than anything. His songs are known for their beauty and poetry-feel. This song in particular is hauntingly beautiful, not only from the melodic harmonies, but the lyrics. The lyrics refer to a woman and man dying together in the woods, and Hozier is able to make the listener feel as almost this act is the most beautiful occurrence. The relaxing strum of a guitar is also a very good calming sound.

In all, these songs can be listened to on all kinds of days from snow days to hot summer days. This playlist is perfect for anyone who loves to broaden their music library and listen to relaxing songs after their hectic Christmas weekend.

an image of taylor swift standing center stage surrounded by her backup dancers in elegant peacock esque outfits with a backdrop of clouds and a box rising above the stage the image captures the vibrant aesthetics and energy of her performance during the lover era of her eras tour

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
