Positivity is one of the most important things to keep with you at all times. It gives yourself a better outlook on life and you spread it to those around you. Sometimes it's even the smallest things that matter the most.

1. “Your mind is a powerful thing. When you fill it with positive thoughts, your life will start to change.”

2. “Show kindness ALWAYS. You will being to understand how important it becomes. You will see the difference in each little action you take and you will begin to feel as though a weight has been lifted off your shoulders.”

3. “Life is precious, so live every day to the fullest.”

4. “Don’t regret the choices you make, they do make you who you are. Just choose to make the right ones.”

5. “Life is great, I’m surrounded by friends.”

Friends become so important, especially when you are away from home.

6. “IHOP has a pancake the size of a pizza”

7. “Illinois is drafting the first bill to make marijuana legal.”

That's right.

8. “You can’t be a butterfly without being a caterpillar first.”

We must grow before we truly change. Spread your beautiful wings!

9. “Elephants think we’re cute.”

I think they're cute too :)

10. “There’s a song out there that instantly makes everyone happy and is completely individual for each person which is so beautiful.”

11. “Dogs are a thing that exist.”

And they are beautiful.

12. “Success is possible.”

Give yourself the OOMPH of confidence!

13. “If today is your worst day, tomorrow has to be better.”

Every bad day is another opportunity for growth, no matter the circumstance.

14. “When an opportunity presents itself, take it. You may never get a second chance.”

15. “Even though vine isn’t around anymore, there are literally hundreds of hours of compilation videos on Youtube so we can play them forever.”

16. “Just because *this* isn’t your strongest area, doesn’t mean you aren’t a successful student. That always helps me when I have a trash day with classes.”

17. “I’m still alive.”

And I am so very happy that you all are.

18. “The best way to be happy is to make someone else happy.”

Pay it forward, compliment someone on something you like about them- their hair, their smile, their shoes, etc.

19. “The earth has been around for billions of years and we ended up being on it during the same time as The Office, Gang of Youths and so many other icons. Think that’s pretty epic.”

20. “You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn how to surf!”

Right on, bro.

21. “Nobody can hurt you without your permission.”

It's perfectly okay to say, "No."

22. “Any time is a new beginning if you want it.”

23. “Life goes on.”

24. “Today’s gonna be a good day.”

It sure is.

25. “LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.”

Absolutely beautiful.

26. “Death is inevitable. It’s nice to know we all end up in the same place, regardless of wrong doings.”

27. “Everything is connected.”

Like Newton's third law: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.

28. “You’re the pineapple of my eye.”

And you are just SO sweet!

29. “As long as you’re with family and good friends, everything will be okay.”

30. “Patience is a virtue.”

We must have patience for all whom we cross paths with and good things come to those who are willing to wait.

31. “Flowers are beautiful.”

And just as flowers regrow, you can too.

32. “It takes more effort to frown than it does to smile.”

Smiling is more fun anyway!

33. “There are no wrong answers, except when you’re on Family Feud.”

34. “Let your energy be used to build, not destroy.”

35. "You are always loved. Maybe you don’t see it now, but you are. Never think that nobody wants you on this Earth because that’s just a lie. You make the world a better place and it wouldn’t be the same without you. Stay positive. You will get through whatever you are going through at the moment.”

I hope you enjoyed what my friends have to say. I am a firm believer that sometimes it's even the smallest things that matter the most.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way.
