We've all been there. You are in college and strapped for cash and you purge your closet to take to Plato's or a local consignment shop but they only take three pieces of clothing for a whopping dollar. I'm here to tell you there's a better way to make a profit for your clothes that have been collecting dust for years. Grab your smartphone and download the app Poshmark.
Poshmark is a second-hand buying and selling app for clothes, shoes, accessories, phone cases, and even unused makeup for both males and females. It is extremely user-friendly and an easy way to clean out your closet while making a quick buck for your next Starbucks run. Do not worry, this article is not sponsored and Poshmark is not paying me to say any of this, I just am addicted to the app!
All you have to do to start selling is create an account, take a few pictures of each item you are selling, upload it to the app, enter in the product information, set a price, and post it! Buyers can also negotiate the price with you and you can even reduce the prices on items to start a sale and reduce shipping costs for your buyers to convince them to buy. Once your items start to sell, packing and shipping them is easier than mobile ordering your Chipotle burrito bowl.
Poshmark will email you prepaid United States Postal Service (USPS) shipping labels with all the address info on it already. Just drive to your local post office and grab a Priority Mail Flat Rate box (which are free since you are using USPS as your sender), pack it up, and drop it at the post office to send on it's way to the new owner! Once your package ships and it arrives at its new home the receiver will verify that they received the item through the app and your money will be released to you! When the money releases to you, you can choose to have it sent to your bank account at no charge OR keep the money on your account and use it to buy a new dress or pair of shoes from another seller on Poshmark!
Over the past summer, I have made $218 and counting by selling all the old clothes I never wore. For all my fellow broke college pals I highly suggest trying this app out not only for selling but for buying too! Poshmark has all kinds of brands of clothes from Gucci to Forever 21. It is another great way to save some coin while buying that Free People dress you've been eyeing all summer.
