6. Papa John's
Price*: $13.25
Crust: ★★
Sauce: ★★
Toppings: ★★★
Papa John's price is manageable if you're splitting it with some friends or you have a coupon but is it really worth? Nah. The crust is super, super doughy and hard to swallow. The sauce is a little much and has little to no flavor, and the toppings are at par. Overall, they could afford to keep it in the oven for a little longer because it usually tastes a little under-cooked.
5. Mountain Mike's
Price*: $18.78
Crust: ★★★
Sauce: ★★★
Toppings: ★★★★
Highkey way too expensive for a college kid but this is some good pizza if someone else is paying. The crust is thinner which is great if you're into that. The sauce isn't too in-your-face which is nice, and the toppings are bomb. The little cup pepperonis are so good and crunchy and the cheese isn't overwhelming. Also a little spicy so that's cool.
4. Round Table
Price*: $17.99
Crust: ★★★
Sauce: ★★★
Toppings: ★★★★
Okay so Round Table has some great pizza but $18??? Really? Not worth. The crust is so-so, along with the tangy sauce. The toppings are pretty good though! Very flavorful pepperoni and stringy cheese. Definitely not in the college kid's price range though. It could be if you find a deal though!
3. Little Caesars
Price*: $5.99
Crust: ★★★
Sauce: ★★★
Toppings: ★★★
Little Caesars is honestly life if you're on a budget (aren't we all). A large for $5.99 or on Wednesdays, $5.00, is a college kid's dream. The crust is lowkey cardboard but it does the job. The sauce is meh and the toppings are pretty good. Even if the taste isn't A1, it tastes so good when you know your bank account didn't take a major hit for the night.
2. Domino's
Price*: $10.99
Crust: ★★★★★
Sauce: ★★★
Toppings: ★★★★
Domino's takes a really close second. The value is amazing at $11 for a large (without any type of deal -- which Domino's usually has). The crust is the right amount of chewy and also has a bomb garlic taste. The sauce is a little much but if you order it with the "light" sauce option, it's great. And the topping? Bless. They also have the cool online tracker so you can see what stage in the pizza making process your order is in!
1. Pizza Hut
Price*: $12.99
Crust: ★★★★★
Sauce: ★★★★
Toppings: ★★★★★
Pizza Hut is the winner, here. The crust is magnificently buttery yet crisp. The toppings are cooked to marvelous perfection, and the saucy taste is there but not overpowering. For $13 without any type of coupon, this is definitely the best value if you're looking for some dank pizza, even if does give you that "why did I just eat that" type of feeling afterwards.
And there you have it, folks. The six most well known pizza chains ranked by yours truly. Because it's important to know what pizza is worth the $20 in your bank account.
