Think about the songs that you hear on the radio or you listen to on Spotify. It is almost guaranteed that the song is talking about either sex, drugs or love. However, have you also noticed that they also sound the same?
That is because almost every pop song uses the same chord progression. It's called a I- IV- V-VI or a one, four, five, six chord progression. That basically means in key of the song, you hear the first note, fourth note, fifth note and sixth note in that key. A group called the Axis of Awesome did a medley of all the pop songs with this chord progressions.
