Why Politics Are Important

Your silence is helping nobody.

Why Politics Are Important

I always hear people saying phrases such as "I hate politics," "It won't effect me so why should I care," "Let's not make things political." People act like politics are such a horrible thing, which I can understand by looking at the current world we are in, but politics are important and vital to our nation.

When looking at people who believe politics and policy changes won't effect them, they are completely wrong. They will effect your neighbor, your friend, a coworker, a family member, and because they effect someone you know, they are effecting you. You care and fight for whats moral and ethical because you should be willing to help other people. A society that just feels that they shouldn't help others is immoral and proves that the human race is evil.

By not participating in politics, people will suffer. Families and children will suffer. And by brushing it off by thinking it won't effect you is selfish.

Stay active in your community. The best way to do that is to be involved. By not voting, you are choosing the corrupt side. Your silence is hurting others, and you need to let your voice be heard by being active in politics.

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor."- Desmond Tutu

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
