Police Lives Matter, Too

Police Lives Matter, Too

I feel like these four words should just be common knowledge and it breaks my heart to know that some people just don’t understand this concept.

Many people do not realize what a police officer has to go through every day the second he or she puts on their uniform and badge. It has been said that “people are scared of police officers solely because what if he or she gets trigger happy.” What about thinking logically, the officer is a human being as well too and they feel the same exact way. What if someone decides to “get even with the police” or what if a person has the mindset “all officers deserve to die”?

On behalf of this entire country I want to extend a huge thank you to Police Officers EVERYWHERE. Thank you for keeping your city of detail safe. Thank you for keeping my family, friends, and me safe. Thank you for not only keeping me safe, but putting your life on the line to do so. Thank you for regardless of the harassment you receive on the streets, putting on your uniform to do your job. Thank you for being the bigger person and protecting the people who are giving you death threats. To sum it up, thank you for existing and doing your job, what many people don’t realize is that without you, our communities, cities, states, and even country would be in absolute turmoil.

I also would like to say that on behalf of the United States, I am sorry. I am sorry that every day, another one of your brothers or sisters pass away. I’m sorry that when you go into your police headquarters you have to see another name added to the Wall of Hero’s.

While reading social media, on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and sometimes Instagram you will see many people speaking about how the term “Blue Lives Matter” is used to combat slogans such as “Black Lives Matter” or “All Lives Matter” which is not the case. The ignorance in this country is at an all-time high because of the media and the society we live in. Blue Lives Matter is an organization made in order to help families of fallen officers in their time of loss, struggle, and need. Also, Blue Lives Matter means ALL blue lives, which if many haven’t noticed, police officers are all races and ethnicities.

What I have come across and what I really don’t understand is how someone can be so Anti- Police. It really makes absolutely no sense to me. If you were to be in a very serious predicament, where you needed help, who would you call? I think everyone fails to realize that without the police force, we wouldn’t be as safe as we are. Police officers every single day put their life on the line every time they respond to a call.

No matter what is said about them, who shoots at them, who harasses them, an officer will still go into work the next day put on their uniform and keep us safe. Remember that.

Blue Lives Matter, too.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
